Sunday, January 18th, 2004Lots of posts coming tomorrow. ‘Til then…

UPDATE: Wow. That may be the worst half of football I’ve ever seen from a Manning team — his rookie 3-13 team included.
Four turnovers — two interceptions and two fumbles –, a safety, a porous defense, a bad snap, countless third downs given up, two fourth downs given up (including a fourt-and-eight). And we’re only down two scores. Oddly, I’m still a little optimistic. Things can’t get much worse.

petyon and the colts are going down like a three dollar crack whore.
The coaching matchup will probably make the difference, and that by far favors NE as Dungee is a horrible coach, he’s the type of guy who can take a superior team and always leave them in position to lose. See years at TB as example. Hopefully he won’t last that long and Payton will get a chance to win the SB sometime in his career.
I agree, down 2 TD’s after that half leaves the door open. Plus, like the Houston game they keep going to Edge. Need a stop by the D.
Although the D came up with some stops at the end to give Indy hope they played horribly throughout the game and the playoffs for that matter. The defense needs some major work before they can win it all. They made a step this year though and will certainly be back next year (as long as they stay healthy).
When I first saw this post today (before comments & update), I thought, “What is this? Is Radley going to a dude ranch? Cowboy Radley?”
I am dumb. Back to figure skating I go.
Echoing what Peter said, Dungee is teh sux0r
I can’t wait for the national media excuses for this one. It should be interesting, because there’s nothing more embarassing than getting just plain beat up all over the field.
I predict an over-exaggeration of the Brady “fumble” (a ‘la tuck rule), and a Patriots conspiracy to wear blue uniforms, thereby fooling Peyton Manning into hitting Ty Law as many times as Marvin Harrison.
Sorry Radley. maybe next year..or not
The Patriots just schooled my poor Colts. They lost to the superior football team. I think the game plan was really crappy. James was running like a champ, and they should have stuck with that. I think the problem is that the Pats play to the opponent’s weaknesses, while the Colts play to their own strengths. But that’s just my opinion.
The changed call on the Brady fumble was fine - he was indeed down. However, I don’t understand why Ty Law and the rest of the Pats secondary got away with murder for the entire game. Tough to throw the ball to guys with 200lbs of DB all over them, and with no flags. It was most obvious during the last Colts drive when Pollard got mugged twice and there were no flags.
No, the Colts didn’t play their best game, but neither did the Pats. After the first drive, the Colts D actually did a good job keeping NE out of the end zone.
Dungy a horrible coach? Takes superior teams and leaves them in a position to lose? You, sir, couldn’t be any more wrong. TB was a horrible team before he got there. He got them into shape and in a position to win during the time he was there. Chucky had what they need to go the whole route
Now. That said, I will say that I don’t think he is a very good head coach. He is a defensive genius and should have stayed a coordinator. Norv Turner comes to mind on the other side of the ball, although Tony certainly had better success as a head coach.
Even w/out the red & white canes downfield, I’m afraid the Colts simply came up against a superior force. The key was keeping PM off-balance, and they did that. Belichick is THE D-Master.
Perhaps one or two big plays off D Interference might have made the swing, but I don’t think anybody can say the better team lost.
Not to play excuse-o-rama here, but at the beginning of the season, the knowlegable types here in Indy who I speak with about such things all predicted something like “Will make the playoffs and maybe do OK for a game or two depending, but still a year (and some defensinve draft/free agent picks) from going all the way.”
I’ll take what they say to Vegas next year.
And, no, I won’t share.
Danno: Dungy is horrible, the same team that he had in TB which could never score somehow seemed to win it all the year he left. He is in the mold of Marty Schotenheimer and Jim Mora, guys who take good teams and allow them to lose.
Look at the defense he had with TB, anyone could get them to the playoffs. Sherman just did the same thing with GB last week, he took a winning team and made them lose to Phily. Lousy play calling, he chokes up when it counts. GB had an enormous amount of offensive yards against Phily and scored 17 points, 7 of which were on a 1 play 40 yard TD pass. What happened to the rest of the offense, it was wasted between the 20s.
The way to lose football games is to continually go to third down. If you can not pick up chunks of yards a couple of times in a drive then you are screwed. No team is consistently converting 5 first downs each drive, and if you have to do that you lose. Sherman ran the ball on first and second down almost every time in the second half, that left him with a bunch of third downs, even if they were short, you might convert 3 of 5, that still is not enough to get you into scoring position.
Follow the coaching in this playoffs, the best guys are still there.
The Patriots are a bunch of faggots. And I mean that in the most nonoffensive way. Tom brady is a faggot in the same sense that Jeremy Shockey is a faggot. Plus they both fucked Tara Reid, who also fucked another faggot named carson Daly.
In summation, a lot of these football players these days are a bunch of faggots and I hope Carolina sticks it to them good.
Well.
There you have it.
What does pro football have to do with a bundle of sticks?
Apparently they have to do with Carolina and goodness.
Peter . . . I appreciate your thoughts and I do agree with you in part. I just don’t agree with your assesment about him being horrible. As I stated, I don’t think he is head coach material. That doesn’t necessitate the horrible label in my opinion but I do know that some people would disagree.
Jim Mora won a USFL championship, BTW. I don’t know if that qualifies him as horrible. =
The Fumble or The Drive don’t happen and you just might change your tune about Schottenheimer as well.
Ah, football. I’m going to miss it. Being a 49er fan, you know I’ve been missing it for some time now. Dennis Erickson? Now he’s horrible!
