Sunday, September 29th, 2002I sorted through the blogroll at left and decided to break up the big list into a hokey, Bob Dylan theme. “Blood on the Tracks” (my favorite from Dylan) are sites I hit daily. “Blonde on Blonde,” (my second favorite) sites I hit frequently. “Highway 61,” (Dylan’s most critically acclaimed) you might call the “pillars” of blogdom — the high-traffic, highly-linked titans. “Love and Theft” (Dylan’s latest) will feature the most recent additions to the blogroll. “Nashville Skyline” (Dylan’s twangy, country album) are a bit off the beaten path — quirky, largely non-political blogs. “Wallflowers” (the band started by Dylan’s son, Jakob) are blogs yours truly has either inspired, or at least influenced (if you know of others that could be listed here, please email me). “Times They Are A-Changin’” (Dylan’s most activist album) are blogs I think are either most true to libertarian principles, or articulate a unique niche in libertarian philosophy. “Time Out of Mind” are blogs that don’t update often, but are worth an occasional look.

Alina Stefanescu: I’ve known of Alina for a while. She was a Cato intern. I got to know her a little better at the last D.C. blog fest. She’s sharp as a thumbnail, extremely well-read, and I’m not afraid to say, very easy on the eyes (Crass? Maybe. But now that it’s out, count on every horny boy blogger on the block to throw her a link). She’s a libertarian, but she seems to come to the philosophy via the odd route of Lew Rockwell (or, as I like to call it, “the angriest corner on the political web) and Mother Jones. She’s fervently anti-war, which is perfectly acceptable. But her unique hybrid of paleo/leftist sympathies cause her to post some odd assertions. Calling the hysterically leftist Harper’s editor Lewis Lapham “credible” would be one example. Favorably citing Pat Buchanan as an ally would be another. Whatever the case, she’s a damned interesting read, and a welcome addition to the blogroll. She’s also laid a gauntlet down at the feet of Stephen Green, which is immensely entertaining to watch.
Arthur Silber: A devout Randian, I stumbled onto Arthur’s site after his excellent nab of Jonah Goldberg last week. Since then, I’ve read him daily, and every post seems to be insightful, well-articulated and necessary (extraneous posts are the bane of a poor blogsite). A nice application of Objectivism to current events and policy debates.
God of the Machine: Any invocation of Isabel Paterson immediately wins favor here. A well designed, clean, incisive sight. An eclectic mix of poetry, sports, science and politics.
Hanah and Dahlia Metchis: Maybe Hanah and Dahlia could combine their blogs. They’d call it “Hanah and Her Sister.” Sorry. Dahlia’s been sending me thoughtful email since April. It’s about time she started posting her observations under her own name. Hanah’s site has been up for awhile. She got he same smart gene her sister did. And of course, dating a Volokh can only make you smarter. I would make crass, piggish comments about their respective appearances too, except that I’ve yet to meet either of them.
