#32 – If the enjoyment you get from gardening is actually enough that you get more utility from an hour of gardening than you do from an additional hour of work, then you should work less and start a part time job gardening for other people.

This is a great day! The day that left wing liberal idiots like Radley Balko get to abandon Obama because he has lost his lead and will soon be a disgraced and defeated president. This is silly. How in hell is it hard to understand that after debugging other people’s code for 60 hours a person would enjoy riding a mower for an hour on the weekend? That doesn’t mean he/she wants to mow for 60 hours and take a pay reduction of 80%.

But, debug for a 61st hour or mow for hour 1? That’s a pretty easy choice.

Please, people, don’t try conducting economics without a license.

Why are Americans so willing to spend HALF of our resources on “defense”? Hey Republicans!

Actually happened to me last month. FBI agent showed up (sorry, cannot say why…but you can go ahead and guess). I explained that I don’t make statements to any state agents and that my lawyer will contact him. He was nice and I bid him “good day, sir”. This is not the first time I’ve used this line and I’ve never had a confrontation over it.

My job frequently puts me at industrial locations; power plants, refineries, chemical plants, mines, etc. I have lotsa pix that I’ve taken without any drama. Industrial architecture can be beautiful and compelling. Smokestacks towering out of the morning fog on the Ohio River is like something out of The Lord of The Rings. Sunrise on a west Texas refinery looks like science fiction.

FBI/picture taking story- So, how would this have turned out if this man was NOT a volunteer with the weather service, with “legitimate” reason to be taking photographs? What if he were just an average guy who happened to see an interesting cloud he wanted to get a picture of?

@30 For me the key thing about Romneys project is he did it with his sons. Sure you can pay a contractor to build something for you, but to work together on something useful with your sons is worth a lot more than money. Riccardo does not apply.
