Unfortunately, this lack of ability to reason is all too often why someone chose to be an educator or administrator. In a job that deals with the real world, not understanding the difference between symbols and reality is apt to get you fired.

Who am I kidding? TPTB set up public education this way because they’re desperate to keep citizens as uneducated as possible. Only a sucker attributes this kind of shit to anything but malice.

I currently teach English in China. Most of my students are adults, but during the summer we get a small influx of high-school and college students. This summer, I had a student named “Killer”. He’s intelligent, informed, outspoken, and insightful. He also has definite ideals, grand plans, and the energy to actually make them reality.

In China, they teach their children to be smart and brave–even while spoiling the hell out of them.

There won’t be a war between the US and China. That’s too obvious. Instead, China will simply step up and take over while the US is busy “protecting” itself from french fries, and dealing with the “threats” of childhood names.

As another asked above, it is easy to assume the board members are ‘liberals’ or ‘progressives’ but – are they?

Here’s a link to the current members of the board – most are women – so I would suppose you also think women are insanely stupid, just like liberals. Of course, they are ALL white skinned. So I guess all white people (and esp. white women) are “absurd, inane, puerile, vacuous and harebrained.”

My point isn’t to ridicule you – it is to inform you. There’s idiots in every ideology. Not to mention race and sex. Unfortunately, they tend to congregate in positions of power (which doesn’t say much for the voting public in the US of A).

Most apparent stupidity at higher government levels can be understood if you just find and follow the money trail. From what I gathered working on two state level campaign many years ago is that they *love* when you think they are dummies because that means you don’t realize it’s deliberate evil they are perpetrating. Pfft! Those idiots in Congress! Hey, new season of The Bachelor!

Hence an analog to Clarke’s third law of prediction: Any sufficiently brazen stupidity is indistinguishable from malice.

I’m guessing that “Dr. Robert Winter” has PhD in Advanced Political Bullshit from Tax Dependent University.

@24 – Darn straight! I only teach at University level, and there’s a vast difference even there.

I, too, tend to assume that the ‘authorities’ in question are Liberal/Progressive Left, but do we actually KNOW? I thinks a case could be made that this is simply the Educator’s assumption of superiority running amok. The professional Educator is a strange beast, dedicated to the notion that he or she knows how to raise children better than any parents, in a total absence of supporting evidence.
