That still does not explain the broken system that put him in the car to begin with, he was murdered by our society even if the police are innocent.
I believe forensics will prove my very possible and simple scenario.

As a lot of ppl at NYT point out, he was put in the car without handcuffs the first time and could have stowed the gun then. They also point out that the shooting might have been an accident self-inflicted wound.

The truth is probably figure-outable from the police audio recordings which we don’t have (and which may or may not remain hidden from us).

How many times have you seen a person arrested handcuffed with their hands in the front of them? I will now make the observation that Houdini like flexibility would be required to acquire the weapon ,well hidden on your person as the LEO’s were unable to find it,then use the weapon to shoot ones self in the head while your hands are behind your back. Impossible? NO. Very highly unlikely Yes! So highly unlikely as to be eliminated from consideration. This is yet another example of LEO’s out of control, another reason to disband the police altogether.

Well, it’s possible. If he was trying to shoot the handcuffs off and was contorting his body to see the cuffs out of the corner of his eye he could have shot himself in the head. The burning smell then would have been from the singeing of his clothes and the car seat. Of course, stippling patterns and forensic evidence from the back of his shirt and the car seat would quickly allow this possibility to be ruled out or confirmed. So the options are either blatant murder or REALLY fucking stupid idiot.

Well, there is a fairly famous video of a guy under arrest, in a police interrogation room, who pulls a full sized 1911 .45 out of his pants and shoots himself in the head. I can’t remember if he’s handcuffed or not, but he’d been searched about 4 times and nobody noticed it. I have no idea how you could fail to not notice a full sized 1911 in even a completely half-assed patdown, but more then one cop did. So it’s not completely and totally impossible, even if it does seem to be more then a tiny bit suspicious.

The police reports, as cited by the linked articles, report that Chavis still had his hands handcuffed behind his back when he supposedly shot himself in the right temple and that there were no holes in the vehicle as there would have been if someone else had shot him from outside.
