Five Star Fridays: Metal Edition

The Champs. Forced by the Man’s fascist intellectual property conventions to abandon their name when it was discovered that the guys who recorded “Tequila” had a prior claim. So they became “The Fucking Champs”.

I first heard “Thor Is, Like, Immortal” on a 45 rpm record that cost me three dollars. They were three dollars well spent.

As a foodie for bad metal, that is a find. I especially like the choreographed pauses. An import from bad hardcore. Still, not as good/bad as Morgroth.

I prefer NWOBHM 2 off that album.
Which do you prefer as a name for the combination of The Fucking Champs + Trans Am: Trans Champs, or The Fucking Am?
For others who like guitar-army (guitarmy?) instrumental metal bands, Hematovore is good but thrashier.

you go full instrumental and pretty soon you’re in shrapnel records territory.

Let me establish cred before criticizin you – I love metal, and this tune kills. That being said, don’t be dissin the Champs, and if you haven’t seen PeeWee Herman do the big shoe dance to Tequila, then you haven’t lived.

Hmm. I’m kinda long on instrumental metal right now, what with Animals As Leaders, Dan Dankmeyer, Paul Wardingham, etc.

What’d anyone think of the new Gojira album, by the way?
