Buzz,

It’s just because the Jacksons and the Sharptons are not anti-statist, they’re just spokesman for one small faction in a statist alliance. The other parties to that alliance are not so keen on some of the issues in this case…gun rights, privacy, castle doctrine, self-defense, etc.

In fact, other than the single detail that Cory Maye was black, the case feels like something paleo-conservatives would care about – a southern black version of Randy Weaver, if you will.

Now, if they cops were caught on tape shouted “Get down n_______!”, that would have been a different story, because then it would have tied directly and undeniably into a broader issue for the left.

I have a feeling that the primary motivating factor is probably that he just doesn’t want to be on tv. After the hell he’s been through I can’t blame him for wanting to not be in the spotlight anymore.

I think there’s a lot to this. He is very shy–and self-conscious about his shyness. He has always been reluctant to do TV interviews.

Cory certainly has no problem with people (like me) using his story to illustrate the issues and problems associated with his case. But when it comes to him personally speaking out and advocating, I think he’d rather just get on with living his life.

And I sure as hell can’t blame him for it.
