This, or something similarly inane would be the dialogue if this were recorded in the 21st century.

Those are called principles. That’s how a man of character behaves.

Every time some self-described libertarian appeals to pragmatism or accuses principled libertarians of being “extremists”, I wish the ghost of Andy Taylor would materialize and smack him upside his head with that tape recorder.
