Tom Waits, “Fumblin’ With the Blues.” Because he’s a pool-shooting, shimmy-shyster, shaking his head. When he should really be living clean instead.

Also love the boozy clarinet in this song.

Heart of Saturday Night and Closing Time would probably both make my all-time top ten. There’s no better mood music than early Tom Waits.

My vote for favorite Tom Waits drinking song is “The Piano Has Been Drinking.”

What can be said after that. If you are ever needing to get a drunk on there is no one better than Waits. I don’t live this lifestyle but he is still my hero.

I’d put Piano has been Drinking at #2.

#1 would be Bad Liver and a Broken Heart.

Both are off of Small Change, which I think ups the ante on inebriation over either Closing Time or Saturday Night. In addition to those two theres I wish I was in New Orleans, Tom Traubert’s Blues, and Pasties and a G-String.
