Five-Star Fridays: Songs About Drinking
Friday, June 15th, 2012“The Drinking Song,” by Moxy Fruvous.
This is probably the most beautiful song I know of in which I haven’t the slightest idea what the artist is actually singing about. Something about Armageddon, I take it. And Nintendo. And drinking.
But it’s a gorgeous song.

“ever notice how drinking is like war”
As I understand it, the song concerns buddies going on a drinking binge from which one of them never wakes up afterward. But I’ve heard more than a bit of debate among Fru-heads as to other interpretations.
This was always a treat to see live — they had a manic energy on stage that would just drop like a stone for this melancholy number.
Good song. But I still demand The Pogues be represented here.
Have a lil taste of this:

Sean (#2 above) has a valid point.
I’ve always assumed the same as Grant did. Except, I just assumed there were two of them.
It’s a bit dated these days, but check out Fruvous’ “The Gulf War Song”.

Brings back some memories, saw them busking downtown Victoria, BC quite a few years ago.
That’s not the actual video they released is it?
