When I first read about the wrong door raid, I thought it said that same house had been wrong door raided 4 times in 16 years. When I reread, I realized that the chief constable had indicated a total of four. In either case, heads should roll for every one. Carrying out a wrong door raid should be automatic grounds for dismissal and loss of credentials for the centurians responsible. Why won't they let me on the po-po commission?

As someone who lives in the Hudson Valley region of the state it really depends on the person. Yes the general definition is anything outside of NYC along with Rockland and Westchester counties.

Arensen is exactly right about how cops getting killed in "dynamic entries" won't change anything.

The only violence that will change it is off-the-clock violence*, targetted at the cops who perform raids, judges who rubber stamp the warrants, and prosecutors who cover for them.

Actually, even THAT might not be enough - if that is tried and doesn't work, the next step would be either mob violence against them (unlikely to be effective, IMO, for the same reasons Arensen mentioned), or targetting their families.

I honestly and truly hope it does not come to that (ESPECIALLY that second part), but I am also honestly surprised it hasn't yet (the first one, anyway).

* By which I mean intentional and targetted kills where the killer is not (usually) captured or identified, performed away from the safety of official spaces and activities - homes, generally, I would expect. The complete denial of safety in any non-official-capacity place for people who engage in terrorizing the public.

No, that will not end it. If a LEO were killed, it would simply justify police departments asking for even more firepower, because of the Terrible Danger to Our Noble Protectors.

OTOH, if there were a wrong door raid on a safe house for battered women, that might inspire some outrage.

Police: He's barricaded himself inside! Go to siege mode! Shoot him the moment he appears at the window!

*Police grows impatient, throws incendiary grenades -- sorry, "flash bang" -- in the window, house burns down, you die.*

Meanwhile, the drug dealer one street over has carefully packed his stash in the car, along with his growth lights, tubing, shelves, etc., and moved everything elsewhere. Oops.

Wrong door raids like that are nearly impossible in Mexico. Everyone has steel doors. There are ways to get around that of course, but there are a variety of types of doors so it actually takes some planning to get through one. They can't just kick in the doors or bang on them with one of their stupid rams and expect to get through, it doesn't work like that.

When I move back to the US, I think I'll be getting a steel core door with floor and ceiling bolts.
