Regarding meat eaters, if test tube meat is biochemically indistinguishable from regular meat, I don’t see why any meat eaters would object to it simply from how it’s made. I mean, “look how it’s made” never stopped anyone from eating sausage. (What was that quote again about objecting to how sausage and legislation are made?)

I think you’ve misread my comment. I never said that test tube meat is the equivalent of killing an animal and I don’t believe that to be true. But I consider it meat from a nutritional standpoint, which is why people who choose vegetarianism for health reasons (not ethical reasons) still won’t want to eat stem cell grown meat.

As for Michigan being concerned that people are cutting off the orange end of toys guns and threatening others .It would now appear that there should be serious concern that politicians are being elected to “service of the people”having their brains cut out and then threatening others with stupidity.

That’s not the argument. It’s more of a “Fruit of the Poison Tree” argument, sort of like whether we should use Mengele’s research from Auschwitz to save lives. (Fortunately for the debate, Mengele’s work was apparently worthless.) There is also some fear that using embrionic stem cells would make abortion look less evil, thereby promoting abortion.

I will not take a position on those arguments, here.

I was under the impression that vegetarians have ethical problems in killing animals to obtain meat. If you grow the meat from stem cells, you’re not killing the animal. Unless you believe that obtaining stem cells is equivalent to killing animals.
