FTP: I honor those who served in the French Resistance, but the myth is vastly overblown, primarily to cover up the extent of French collaboration. The French collaborated on a vastly greater scale than any of the later NATO states. I recommend that you view the documentary The Sorrow and the Pity for an eye-opening view of its extent.

By contrast, check the Resistance Movements in Denmark (BoPa & Holger Danske, who helped evacuate thousands of Jews to Sweden) and Holland (where 200,000 people were hidden from the Germans and the whole country went on strike in 1941.)

If vegetarians are used to their vegetarian diet, they probably won't feel a need to eat test tube meat, so why would they? There are other ways to promote driving the price of it down. I suppose a rich vegetarian could just buy it and trash it as someone above mentioned, or better yet, just give money to further research on test tube meat.

Regarding meat eaters, if test tube meat is biochemically indistinguishable from regular meat, I don't see why any meat eaters would object to it simply from how it's made. I mean, "look how it's made" never stopped anyone from eating sausage. (What was that quote again about objecting to how sausage and legislation are made?)

I think you've misread my comment. I never said that test tube meat is the equivalent of killing an animal and I don't believe that to be true. But I consider it meat from a nutritional standpoint, which is why people who choose vegetarianism for health reasons (not ethical reasons) still won't want to eat stem cell grown meat.

I think the only people who consider obtaining stel cells equivalent to killing a living thing are the Christian types who think using embryonic stem cells kills babies.

That's not the argument. It's more of a "Fruit of the Poison Tree" argument, sort of like whether we should use Mengele's research from Auschwitz to save lives. (Fortunately for the debate, Mengele's work was apparently worthless.) There is also some fear that using embrionic stem cells would make abortion look less evil, thereby promoting abortion.

I will not take a position on those arguments, here.

I don't really see why vegetarians should be obligated to eat vat-grown meat (and presumably bankrupt themselves thereby) in order to bring the price down so that meat-eaters can afford it. I'm not adverse to a bit of PETA chain yanking, but that argument's too absurd to be funny. If the goal is to reduce the number of animals killed for food, I'm pretty sure that it would be far easier, and they'd be far more effective, by simply sharing their delicious meatless food and recipes with their non-vegetarian friends. (In fact, I enthusiastically encourage my vegetarian friends to invite me over for dinner more often.)
