- you can legislate all you want, without the means to enforce it the legislation has no effect
- it is the willingness of (law) enforcers that gives laws true live (without it every law is stillborn).
(In other words no dictator is dangerous without followers willing to enforce his dictates)

When an enforcer says he will enforce every law no matter his personal feelings what he is doing is outsourcing the decision of when to force/risk his life to a 3th party. Worse the entitiy he outsourced it to is a faceless bureaucracy.

This is a crucial difference between peace officers and (law) enforcement officers. The later have outsourced the decision of when to use force, the former haven’t.

Agreed. Narcs only do what they do b/c LE has something that the narc wants or needs. Like Big Corp (TM), they’re only taking the favors that Big Gov has to offer. It’s self-preservation or, perhaps, just plain useful to the narc for some other purpose.

How is this NOT “a terrorist attack”? It’s a military-style assault, done for the express purpose of scaring other members of the public into not offending the gang that did it, lest they be next. That’s the definition of terrorism.

The jihadis know that they’re fighting an uphill battle so they have to make their relatively small attacks count big. They’re counting on the publicity and victim-innocence factors to make the attack more frightening and of greater import than it truly is.

Same for the WoF (War on Flowers). The Big Gov PR Machine needs to make people who use afraid, that they’ll be next. Yes, that is the very definition of terrorism.

Blame isn’t zero-sum.

Deaths from opiates is now at an all time high. When the Taliban ruled Afghanistan, opium production was almost totally eliminated. Since the US occupied Afghanistan, they have shot up to #1 in drug production – 94% of the entire world’s supply comes from Afghanistan. The fields are so big you can see them from space on Google Earth but the US military claims that after 10 years of searching they ‘just can’t find them.’ Ahem. Prescription pain killers are wildly profitable, physically addictive and often deadly. But money buys politicians so opiates are not only legal but a doctor can have them administered to you by force until you become hooked.

By contrast, cannabis has 0 medically confirmed deaths over the same time period. But people grow their own. No huge company gets rich. No politicians get bribed. So Cannabis is illegal even though medical studies have show it is both safer and more effective than all other commonly available pain relievers.

actually, no. my paycheck doesn’t, and i’m a cop. drug enforcement is a TINY part of my job. lots of cops are ambivalent at best towards mj. i know numerous cops who dump MJ they recover during traffic stops vs. actually filing a criminal case.

we know that people smoking MJ are almost never the ones assaulting us, robbing stores, or beating their spouses.

there ARE lots of cops who think it should be illegal, but i think people would be surprised how many line cops (not administrators, but real cops) could not give a flying fuck about MJ and would not care if it was decrim’d or legalized.

the drug war is not the fault of narcs. people here and elsewhere who are pro legalization (i am pro legalization) place the blame on narcs. the BLAME lies with the legislators. THEY made it illega and they could legalize it tomorrow.

in states with strong initiative powers, that is a route as well

and mark my words, within a few years, we will see a state legalize MJ. it’s inevitable imo, especially because medical MJ has helped normalize it for many, and shown people that the world does not collapse when people can legally use MJ

narcs are no more to blame for the WOD, than a foot soldier is to blame for our stupid-ass iraq war policy.

it’s not a matter of best interest or corruption. it’s a matter of bad law – the laws making MJ illegal.

the legislature could ALSO pass laws that said that it was illegal for cops to do any sort of dynamic raid for MJ offenses. iow, they could make these kind of warrant for pot illegal. tomorrow. they don’t

it’s within their power. the blame is constantly placed on the wrong people

1) I wish it would. These LEO thugs deserve to be treated EXACTLY like they treat us mud people.

2) If 1) comes true, it will never be reported accurately. The Press/ Media will go out of their way to sanctify the LEO thugs and demonize the mud people victims. Just look at how they handled Waco and Ruby Ridge.
