This appears to be the tip of the iceberg for Lake County. So arrogant, the clan still meets to seek another avenue to their skew of “justice”. Sad.

The continuing presence of grandstanding hypocrites in the ranks of elected representation is compelling proof that electors are incapable of modifying their voting patterns to screen out such people.
When people start voting for candidates other than those belonging to the two major parties, I’ll believe that electors are serious about change. Until then, to use my Dad’s expression, the electorate overall is all mouth and no trousers.

It is impossible for politicians of any stripe to be other than grandstanding hypocrites, since hypocracy is one of the symptoms of power lust; the single prerequisite for all politicians through history. The big lie is that in a democracy we can elect “better leaders”; ones immune to this hypocracy. We have been trying to elect good leaders for generations now. It is high time we give it up and admit that democracy is just as big a failure as devine right of kings.

The over/under on Mermel resigning is never. After all, he won’t just “fold up the tent” when someone challenges him.

The over/under on people stopping electing grandstanding hypocrites is similarly … never.

I wonder how some of these professionals would respond if their lives were turned upside down and inside out for a few years because of someone’s incompetence, lack of common sense or just plain old malicious prosecution.

It is important for the sheriff, and all members of Law Enforcement, to recognize that after decades of abuse of the law by those who swore an oath on a bible to uphold the law, We The People believe Mr. Mermel’s comments are highly indicative of the failed, corrupt, depraved state of the criminal justice bureaucracy and those who serve it. Like you.
