14- Mendelssohn, on the other hand, beat this guy. Symphony no. 1 and the Octet are two of his best compositions.

That is several years old. He’ll be 20 next month, and is currently reading (that’s Britspeak for majoring in) music at Cambridge University.

As for WAM–much of the stuff he wrote as a young kid was actually arrangements/transcriptions of other composer’s music, and much of the rest was composed with heavy editing and input from his father; in fact a lot of the very stuff with low Koechel numbers should probably be credited to Leopold.

Snopes says the legend of vodka soaked tampons has been around since at least 1999, and they say it is undetermined whether it is true or not. Seems the tv station was less than professional in fact-checking the story.

I envy him– he’s got all that music, and he enjoys it.

The news story is mostly about how weird he is compared to other kids, but it seems like good weird to me. He seems to have a sensible, supportive family, and I think he’ll probably do just fine.
