Here are a few shots and a short video of a great old-timey band I caught on Royal Street in New Orleans Saturday. They’re called the Loose Marbles.

Still working out how to shoot video with the new camera, as you can see by the (lack of) focus.

    Off topic must see TV: Occupy Atlanta does it’s best Monty Python meets Animal Farm impersonation. Bonus points for creepy incantation chanting of everything the speaker says.

    Beyond Python and Animal Farm, I was reminded of an old Steve Martin bit:

    Let’s say the Non-Conformist’s code. Repeat after me:

    Loose marbles = awesome. Meschiya lake has a voice that can cause the ground to shake.

    I love the Loose Marbles! I do swing / vintage jazz dancing. Actually, we’re headed to Philly in November for a dance with them. Small world. Yonemoto, Meschiya’s with the Little Big Horns now, we just had them at a dance not too long ago in Baltimore. She is amazing.

    I think I’d still be playing clarinet if I could have played in a band like that. I’m not knocking playing Earth Wind and Fire in a marching band, but I am knocking 2nd clarinet parts to Disney songs.
