Ehhh not one of my favorites on the album, which is one of my favorites – I’ve always loved the first five tunes, the one about monty cliff, wrong em boyo, death or glory, card cheat, a few others but i tend to skip over paul simonon. the sentiment rings true though. brian fallon’s cover of lost in the supermarket beats this one imo

Nothing to say except that this is my current ringtone, part of a rotation I haven't changed in years; it also features The Clash's (White Man) In Hammersmith Palais, The Sex Pistols' Anarchy in The U.K., 10cc's Rubber Bullets, Dre and Snoop's Still Dre and Nuthin' But A G Thang, Tupac's Starin' Through My Rear View and Bury Me A G, The Pretenders' Precious and Brass in Pocket, Elvis Costello's (The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes and Welcome To The Working Week , The Replacements' I'll Be You, The Spinners' They Just Can't Stop It (The Games People Play), Gram Parsons' Return of the Grievous Angel, Patsy Cline's I Fall to Pieces, and Merle Haggard's Mama Tried. Yeah, kinda heavy on the nostalgia, but it works for me; not necessarily my favorite songs, but songs I love that are easily trimmed to a catchy snippet with a memorable line or five of the lyrics, which is all I can ask of a ringtone.

Interesting story in today’s National Post (a Canadian newspaper) about cops in Ottawa who allegedly abused a woman in police custody and left her naked in a cell.

The story includes this paragraph:

“As much as people still call police, and rightfully trust them, in a crisis, there is a growing sense among law-and-order types that police really aren’t on their side — that they’re just another self-interested public-sector union, albeit more heavily armed. Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, who’s as cartoonish a cop-lover as you’ll find, has discovered that cutting police complements, salaries and perquisites might be a pretty easy sell.”

So it’s not just an American phenomenon.
