I recall the Republicans looking relatively sane before 9/11. I think that had more to do with Clinton being president for most of that time than with 9/11, of course, just as the way leftoids and D-party types looked (again, relatively) benign during the Bush years.

Whoever wins the next presidential term, they’ll be worse than Obama’s first term.

I expect a rock solid GOP ticket to run against an embattled, unpopular Obama. If Romney is the nominee, he’ll give Obama a run for his money in Oregon and Nevada, with their large populations of Mormons and political independents; in Michigan, his first home state; and likely in parts of the Northeast, where his gubernatorial experience and old-line New England GOP moderation will appeal to a lot of independents and Democrats. Bachmann will have no trouble neutralizing Obama’s traditional advantage as a Chicago politician in the Midwest. Whoever is nominated will have to really fuck up not to win some combination of Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, all blue states in 2008.

I’m noticing a lot of disillusionment among friends and relatives who voted for Obama, some of them normally strident Democrats. The enthusiasm is gone, and I don’t see it returning. I can’t imagine Obama recreating the huge on-the-ground volunteer organization that he had in 2008. We’ll see less Democratic canvassing, phone banking and voter registration this time around, and the result will be lower Democratic voter turnout. The GOP, and especially Bachmann, are getting enthusiastic organizations into place that are in a good position to get people to the polls and clobber Obama.

Of course, all this horse race inanity doesn’t answer the question of what sort of president Romney or Bachmann would be. I’m tentatively hopeful since the jingoism and statism that Republicans peddled for close to a decade after 9/11 seem to be dying down.

One final note: in the spirit of Janusz Kopycinski, Thomas Jefferson and the Fourth of July, fuck President Obama. And for good measure, fuck the Chicago Police Department.

He claims that the 300000 figure is the number of children sold into sex slavery each year not in total. So you have to multiply it by the number of years someone remains a child to get the total number who Kutcher thinks either are or at some point have been child sex slaves.

So 300 000 multiplyed by 18 is 5.4 million child prostitutes. The demand must surely outstrip supply.

IA officers should also be deployed in neighborhoods where the beat cops are known to routinely treat the rights of the locals with contempt. The message in this case should be that it’s time to start respecting the civil rights of black people, poor whites, Latinos or whomever else has been relegated to second-class citizenship, because some of the homebodies aren’t what they appear to be.

The message should go like this: That guy you want to field interrogate or arrest on a pretext may just be another hood rat, but don’t count on it. IA cops are good actors. That jive-assing homeboy who can’t formulate a complete sentence and be looking like a fool with his pants on the ground may just be baiting you in Ebonics; if you take the bait, he’ll Mirandize you in standard police English, and you’ll be the fool then.

It will probably take a few object lessons before the rogues learn that they have to act like cops, not street criminals, but they’ll start cleaning up their act once they realize that the IA undercover operations are not a bluff.

You’ve perhaps heard the old line “The devil’s most significant achievement is convincing people he doesn’t exist”? The republicrats’ (my term for the two arms of “The Big Government Party” known as REPUBLIcans and demoCRATS) most significant achievement is convincing non-partisans to stop voting. They’ve succeeded beyond their wildest dreams, as over 50% of the general population, and an even bigger slice of the “independent”, or non-republicrat -partisan crowd, do not vote. Voter apathy on the part of those who are not republicrat partisans is part of the plan. Republicrats know they’re outnumbered (all the polls of the general population, as opposed to “likely voters” show this), so the only way they can maintain power is to convince the non-cool-aid drinkers to not vote.

Vote. Vote early, vote often, but most importantly DON’T VOTE for republicrat candidates. It only encourages them, and you should never give encouragement to the deranged.

I couldn’t in good conscience vote for Obama.. or any of the political class statists. In 2008, I kinda “supported” Obama by somewhat rooting for him, but I won’t do that again.

Moreover, it’s one thing to be a somewhat-bright-but-not-serious person who hears a ridiculous number and naively repeats it. It’s a different thing to become an advocate for a cause and very specifically take on the job of educating people about the cause and to still use the ridiculous number. In the latter case, the premise for getting others to join the cause is that people like Kutcher, Moore, et alii are knowledgeable and have done at least their basic homework. It doesn’t matter that they may not have really done it; they are claiming to know what they are talking about and they definitely know that the number is well beyond just questionable. Either they own up and come clean that 300,000 is a nonsense number and the real figure is far, far lower or they have crossed the line between credulous celebrities and people knowingly perpetuating a public fraud.
