wiki – In a total war, there is less differentiation between combatants and civilians than in other conflicts, and sometimes no such differentiation at all, as nearly every human resource, civilians and soldiers alike, can be considered to be part of the belligerent effort.
I expect in this case, meeting violence with violence only causes more violence. This isn’t about a few individual rogue cops or SWAT teams, it’s about a broken system that subjugates individual liberty and privacy to officer safety and policing. Holding politicians and police officers accountable in court and in elections is the only solution. When cops get shot, that just makes the next cop more likely to shoot earlier and more often. When cops and politicians lose their jobs, they can be replaced with individuals who value liberty more than the ones we currently have.

Excellent job by Lindy! Thanks for the link, Radley. This kind of stuff needs to find its way into music and popular culture more often if we are to build a critical mass for ending this horror. Very well done!
This is something we all need to seriously consider. Obviously the police would oppose any effort by elected officials to roll back the drug war. But would they openly defy legislation doing so once it’s been passed?
The money raised through drug forfeiture is probably more than most police forces would be willing to give up. And how many police nowadays are trained for actual police work? They’re ready for combat, not for investigation.

One other observation.
The song itself is inspirational, but check out the manner in which Lindy sings it. This is an emotional topic, but Lindy doesn’t do the emotive (over singing) style of vocal common on “American Idol” or other events. He also gives the camera–and the viewer–a hard, intense stare. Instead of trying to play on your emotions, he is staring you down, as if to say, “wake up, god dammit! You can do something about this!” He is not overly sentimental, and is not at all afraid to say what he is saying. That, in a nutshell, is how we should all be if we want to radically alter the system of criminal justice.
I for one will be paying more attention to Lindy in the future.

I shared this on every social network and forum of which I am a member (a lot of them), this needs to go viral. I also sent it to all my so-called “representatives” in government at every level and dared them to watch it all the way thru. If they don’t see the REAL results of their policies they will never change them.

Enough of them would to constitute a serious problem, yes. Whether the problem was short-term or long-term would depend on how much remained of the Cult of the Cop and anti-drug propaganda in the general culture. If enough people considered it bullshit, then, well, you’d run out of pigs before you ran out of armed civilians. If not, then we’d be stuck more or less with what we have today, except with more “the politicians and lawyers are tying our hands” posturing from the pigs.

Good job with this. I saw the original non-studio version of this on YouTube and this is better because of the SWAT raid footage. I shared it too.
You know, I talk a good talk about peace, empathy, and kindness, and I really try my best to mean it…
But when I see things like this, all I can yearn for is the “domino effect”. That moment where civilians finally feel empowered to shoot back.
Every uniform in that video deserves to be dead, and no matter how many Carl Watner articles I read, I can’t escape that feeling in my gut.

Radley, Thank you for your work, which inspired Lindy to write the song, which inspired Reason to craft a wonderful music video to go along with it.
Unfortunately, I don’t think winning via the courts and elections is possible anymore qwints.
There are schools doing “live action shooter” drills with local cops, not telling kids that its just a drill.
