I was always a fan of “We Beg Your Pardon”. And anyone who helps spread the good word of Bobby Blue Bland is by definition awesome. He will be missed.

Actually, independent of politics, his last album “I’m New Here” is really good. I wish I’d have discovered it earlier and made a stronger effort to see him live. His version of Bobby Blue Bland’s “I’ll Take Care of You” is gorgeous. I also really like his cover of Me and the Devil… and “New York is Killing Me” sounds particularly apt now…

He will be missed. Also, I started lissing to Bobby Blue Bland ’cause of him, and, Jesus. Amazing stuff…

when i was in college, my roommate and i used to fall asleep listening to gil scott-heron. a handful of years later, i was your teacher. at the time, it never in a million years would have occured to me that radley balko would note the passing of gil scott-heron with regret ;-)
