Five Star Fridays (Guest Blogger Edition)

Saturday, May 7th, 2011

Commenter johnl suggested breaking up the seriousness by observing the regular Friday music tradition (although this might not be quite what he had in mind).

Familiar to fans of the game Grand Theft Auto and people from Russia.

Or, if you prefer, the live version on stage.

Wow. Is that footage from something else, or was all that computer modelling done for one music video?

It’s just amazing how far things have come. In my undergrad days of computer animation, back in the last millennium, that would have been years worth of work.

IIRC it was all done for that video. Most of the Glukoza videos I’ve seen have been CGI.

If you’ve not already seen it, don’t miss Big Buck Bunny. Done on open source software.

    LOL, I loved it!

Eyne Eyne Eyne, Chickky Chicky Whine, yo Boing Boing!

I’m going to be singing those lyrics all day. I have no idea what they’re supposed to mean, of course.

The Swine Hitler was obvious, was the white haired girl supposed to be a ‘resistance leader’ or something?

Big Buck Bunny doesn’t take any shit, and has the skills to back it up! NO ONE messes with Big Buck Bunny’s forest!

Oh! I get it! Glukoza is Russian, and the lyrics for that one line are german: “Eins zwei drei, Shicke-Shicke Schweine, O-o” She’s the white haired resistance leader, but the pigs are just ill prepared suitors, not a direct Hitler metaphor.

Gunna have to check out the rest of her work.

I’m a big fan of Glukoza. If y’all want to hear more, she posts all her songs at her official site:
