#21 gets it. The supposed Tea Party Revolt was no such thing. It was a couple of congresscritters bucking the overwhelming majority of their party (in both senses: the GOP and the Tea Party faction of the GOP).

On the patriot act extensions, it’s a bit misleading to praise the Tea Party for splitting with the rest of the Republicans : of the 111 “Tea Party endorsed”, 96 voted for the extension, 12 voted against, and 3 didn’t vote. This is essentially indistinguishable from the other Republicans, at 114/14/2.

I don’t see how a poker game where people buy in for $65 can generate $1500 a night. What’s the table rake, 50-percent? I mean, seriously, if the rake is high enough to generate that amount of money for the house, nobody would be winning any money so they’d stop coming to the game (at that rate, the first 23 people to buy chips would just be donating the money to the house).

Yes, Bieber Fever is creepy, but I found the article to be a little reactionary:

Bieber fever has ALWAYS been creepy. So, for that matter, is the parade of fluffy teen-boy idols I remember from the ’70′s, and the Japanese fashion for boy-boy romance comics written for Women. There’s something disturbing about a romance-object that is simultaneously sanitized of most characteristics of its supposed gender, while not being recognizably homosexual either.

Oh, well, it isn’t as if the phases that teen boys go through aren’t weird too.

I hear they are making Bieber’s bed at the Bobby Sherman Memorial Retirement Home For Retired Teen Heart Throbs. Any day now he’ll become this generations face on embarrassing memorabilia from their youth. Sadly, there will be another right after him, just as Madonna begat Lady Gaga.

The pot-smoking Navy vet story is typical. The worst thing is, if Pfizer, Glaxo or some other company in that field could patent a method of THC delivery, it’d be legalized in 15 seconds. Can’t be jeopardizing any income streams, you know.

The Bieber story is only to be expected. Now that the average teen has a way to air his or her feelings in a way that can be witnessed by more than someone that happens to be nearby, we all get to see just how petty, ignorant and immature they are – a large number of them, anyway. Nothing has really changed except that we all get exposed to the stupidity.
