I suspect he intended that sort of depth in his paintings. That is why this technique works so well for these works.

This isn’t changing Van Gogh, it’s just a different or additional perspective. It’s not like they repainted it or took out the yellow paint.

I was sort of kidding. I like what has been done with Van Gogh, but didn’t like the butchering of Twain.
And while I’d like to agree with your argument, I don’t think I can. Fundamentally, I think both works of art have been changed and it is more a matter of taste as to whether or not you agree with the modifications.
