Five Star Fridays
Friday, September 3rd, 2010I know it sounds odd, but trust me on this one: Eef Barzelay of Clem Snide and his ukulele cover Journey’s “Faithfully.”
There’s also whistling.

It don’t play.
Same problem here.
hopefully there’s no whittling…
The rest of that AVClub series is great, too. Don’t miss The Swell Season covering Neutral Milk Hotel.
I am using firefox on linux and I think it is adblock or noscript that is causing it to not play. Tried Google Chrome and it plays.
That was beautiful.
Chrome w/ OS X works fine.
What’s with ukuleles and hipsters these days? I just got Amanda Palmer’s ukulele (side note: English needs more Hawaiian words) versions of Radiohead’s greatest hits.
Also, I like that on libertarian sites nobody whines about having to watch an ad before being entertained.
This old uke phreak thanks you.
I’ve run across the AVClub before and enjoyed the vids. It’s good that Bud gets something right, because the beer is made entirely of suck.
Also, Stephen might be right. I’m using Firefox on Linux but I don’t have adblock and I’m pretty sure I don’t have noscript either. It played just fine.
Sometimes I feel like I take Clem Snide for granted. I don’t think of them as being among my all-time favorite bands, and every album of theirs that I own I bought at least two years after it came out, but every time I listen to them I love what I hear. I should check out Eef’s solo stuff.
That’s not a ukulele, it’s a tenor guitar.
Sorry, Radley, but Eef Barzelay beats you in the coolest name catergory.
Mister DNA, the folks over at ukulelehunt.com think it’s a uke: http://ukulelehunt.com/2010/07/10/clem-snide-florence-the-machine-uketube/.
Its a Lanikai Uke, btw http://www.lanikaiukes.com/
Tenor guitars have banjo necks if I am not mistaken. Lanikai does not make them as far as I know.
The whole series on AVClub has been pretty cool, but this was one of the better ones. It’s obvious that Clem took the song seriously and not as a joke as some of the bands seemed to.
Way cool. Matter of fact, I’d like to see Steve Perry cover this cover!
I’d like to see Arnel Pineda cover Steve Perry covering this.
Easy on the ears.
Should be mandatory listening for the SWAT types….
Ben Folds does a nice cover of Elliott Smith’s _Say Yes_;
