We Know Who You Are
Tuesday, May 4th, 2010Even creepier is that I’m sure a number of Pennsylvania state bureaucrats had to sign off on this video.
Even creepier is that I’m sure a number of Pennsylvania state bureaucrats had to sign off on this video.
Yikes! It is scary that some PA gov panjandrum looked that ad over and apparently thought it was the right tone for a government agency to take when dealing with citizens. Not necessarily surprising at this point, but still scary.
Of course, if federal employee tax delinquints are any indication, there are probably quite a few Pennsylvania state employees who should be targets of this program. I wonder if these goons would slip on their big brother jack boots quite as quickly if they knew they were targeting their own…
I’m already having nightmares.
I’m going to go ahead and put on my tinfoil hat now, just in case.
I wonder if they cut out the last line, “and Tom if you don’t pay, beware of the unmanned Predator drones that will be targeting you and your family.”
Sum of money that can be attributed to willful negligence or cheating on state taxes: ~$7.8 million (calculated guess)
Cost of video, airtime, personnel, etc.: ~10 million (total guess)
Sounds like something the State would do, definitely.
Numbers obtained from:
http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/42000.html
Assumptions: 1% of the population prepares taxes in such a way as to reduce their state tax by 10% through willful illegal means. This applies to income tax only.
That is freaky, cause my name is tom and I live in PA.
That is creepy.
Is there any doubt the state is an organized criminal syndicate?
It sounds better in the original German….
Plus, Tom, if you pay now, we have this delicious cake for you. Are you sure you don’t want it, Tom? There’s a party here for people who pay their taxes, Tom. You’re going to miss it. Oh, someone’s about to cut the cake. You’d better hurry if you want a slice.
Off topic, but this is right down Radley’s lane.

That’s right, a Philadelphia cop decided that a fan running on the field needed to be tasered.
The video is here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riCu3LJOgmk
As you can see, the fan was clearly just being a moron and waving a towel around. The fat cop decides he doesn’t want to run him down, so just shoots him with the taser. Disgusting.
Another terrorist organization releasing another video to scare Americans. I for one, am not going to allow these Islamic Fascists to intimidate me into giving into their zealotry and demands…oh wait, my bad. It’s getting harder and harder these days to everyone apart.
I find it kinda unintentionally comical. Because if they actually did know about Tom, they would be threatening him directly instead of through creepy broadcast advertisments.
Well, they are breaking the LAW. Anyone who is looks like they are a tax cheat should have to prove they are not. And if they can’t they should be put into jail until they can prove they are not.
And employers should also be required to verify the anyone who works for them pays their taxes or be put in jail.
Anyone who trasports a tax cheat should be put in jail. If you give their kids a ride to soccer practice: jaill.
These people use public services and don’t pay. The clog up drs. offices.
After all, they are breaking the LAW and the LAW is the LAW. Anyone who is innocent has nothing to worry about since these meausres would only target those who have broken the LAW and will not be abused at all.
Fucking assholes. Even their web address and phone number have an air of racketeering — “Pay up”
(BTW — Tom: +1)
So do they get addresses wrong for tax evasion like they do drug busts?
“We know who you are, asshole. You’ve been spending our money on useless shit to get your friends jobs and get yourself re-elected. You’ve gotten us and future generations in debt so you could sign sweetheart contracts with unions. So, fuck you, we aren’t going to pay taxes anymore and we have tar, feathers, and a long pole in the back of the truck.”
Seems fair.
Actually, considering what has been reported here on The Agitator, I would be more concerned if I was “Tom’s” neighbor.
Barack Obama has two words for you, Tom…
Wow.
That looks like so many dystopian movies that have come out of Hollywood the past couple decades, I’d have bet it was a fake. Apparently not (via Huffington Post).
It’s almost as if the bureaubots watched some of these fictional movies, took notes, and figured they could get away with scaring the shit out of Americans. It’s not like there are many media outlets making note of it. And, it’s not like many voters are going to remember in November.
Dystopia, we have arrived.
Aresen,
Your right, that’s Bob’s house.
When I see something like this, I think it shows the conundrum: if libertarians/civil libertarians participate in government, they’re called hypocrites. But on the other hand, if we encouraged them to participate in government, maybe not as many of these things would be signed off on.
I know that I, as a bureaucrat, have had the opportunity to derail several heinous things — nothing quite this bad, but still pretty bad.
Shit like this makes only makes me LESS inclined to pay the government.
Forget render unto Caesar. Fuck Caesar.
Am I the only one who finds the honesty of this ad refreshing? They’ve dropped all pretense of the old “do the right thing” and “and do it for the children nonsense,” and are now basically threatening the populace at large with what I take it are predator drones. I think this perfectly sums up the governments position: “We are immense, faceless, and all seeing. We have taken 1984 as a playbook and made it a reality. You will pay us because we say so.”
Lucy,
Don’t use just any tinfoil hat. Get yourself a tinfoil hat par encellence.
excellence.
PW:
When it comes to paying taxes, I always ask myself “what would Jesus do?” Fortunately, there are very specific instructions (MATT 17:27). So, go catch a fish, and whatever you find in its mouth, that’s your tax. What could be simpler?
If we made a video like this, but used the name Barack or Ed (our governor) and showed where they lived we’d have secret service or the PA state police at our door (or bashing through it after a flash grenade explosion).

The cake is a lie.
Pennsylvania has had a number of authoritarian ad campaigns over the years, including “Click it or ticket” for seat belts, and creepy drunk driving commercials. This is just the latest heavy-handed, evil admission that government no longer fears its citizens.
Big Brother is watching you watching the Internets!
MikeL, that looks oddly…comforting. I may need to take an Agitator break.
Lucy, this hat is really an investment in your peace of mind. It cures insomnia, blocks monitoring of your thoughts, and puts an end to those pesky abductions. Don’t take my word for it though, simply read through the testimonials and case studies on the site. It’s a great way to kill an afternoon!
I agree with those who say it makes them less inclined to pay up. I saw this on Fox earlier tonight, and some woman was on defending it, because after all people should be paying their taxes. OK, but does that justify any weirdo $3 million ad? What was especially weird for me, is that I finally watched the film Enemy of the State. This looked like a sequence straight from the film.
What are these people thinking? I do give the ad credit for production values, though. Did Sterling, Cooper put it together?
Would be nice if someone would post it on YouTube without sound so we could make parodies of it, like the Hitler spoofs!

Tom is lucky he’s an illegal alien, and soon his back taxes will be just a memory. Now for those that are citizens….
