Change of Plans

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

I had planned on looking for an apartment in Nashville today. Looks like that won’t be happening. Hope any of you reading from my soon-to-be new home city are able to stay safe. And dry.

Maybe not today, but it would be a good idea to get down there soon. Sort of like looking at houses after a blizzard: you get an idea of what the risks are and how sturdy the place is.

The building, by the way, is from my kids’ school – actually part of the church. It was on fairly high ground. It was a modular building that was set on a foundation, and the foundation is now in ruins. The church/school has a pretty big field near the creek and interstate there that was completely flooded, and a man’s body who died in the flood was found on the field. Really bad flood.

please consider staying in Louisville and looking for an apartment here instead. you can sleep on my couch while you try to find a place. clearly the gods do not intend for you to move to nashville.

I know how you feel, I was trying to move into West Warwick, RI right when the big flood hit RI a month ago. Hopefully you can move in soon.

There is a music scene developing in Louisville as well. It’s a good town. Close to Indiana. I think they might even have Gold Star Chili down there.

So, you are considering a move from Old Town Alexandria (which floods when it rains) to Nashville (which floods when it rains, apparently)?

Perhaps a review of alternate (higher elevation) locations would be in order.

Perhaps a houseboat would be prudent.

Off topic: Cop who slammed cyclist to ground and then falsified report claiming he was assaulted…then shit himself when a video turned up…found not guilty of assault…but there’s some good news (until the union wins the appeal that is).

And Radley I am serious about the chili. No Gold Stars, but there are 4 Skyline’s in Lousville, one in Union, and one in Dry Ridge.

Why are you moving to Nashville?

This is a *very* unusual flood for Nashville, it’s been at least 50 years from what I’ve heard since something like this. I just picked up some friends whose house is still flooded, and driving around was just surreal. Roads washed out, some still flooded, etc.

I blame boobs. I heard there are a lot of boobs in Nashville anyway.

JS: And how will Radley’s move affect the boob count? ;) (Couldn’t resist!)

If you might be in the market for a house, or a lease-option on one, please get in touch with me. I presume you CAN see the email addresses that are not posted. Handy, good neighborhood, blah blah blah…

Re: #15 – obviously we don’t oppress our women enough here. Maybe “boobquake” had this effect instead?

Is that a HOPE (Obama) sign on the side of that trailer? Hope floats?

It’s “HOPE”, but it’s an acronym that they use – nothing to do with Obama.
