Speaking of trusting cops, CNN has a story about head-mounted cameras for cops made by our buddies at Taser.

If the officer does not double-click the communications hub, the incident will not be recorded. That means the beat cop has sole discretion over what gets recorded and what doesn’t.

Gee, ya think that means they might not be inclined to record it when they’re beating the shot outa someone?

Defense attorney Adams said that despite the best intentions of the police departments and Taser, the business relationship between those parties has the potential to create conflict.

“They need to put it in the hands of an independent forensic scientific examiner to make sure it’s out of the hands of the police and outside of the company’s domain,” he said.

Wait a sec. You mean law enforcement should trust an independent party with evidence that could get cops in trouble? ROFLMAO!

As a stun or flashbang grenade can injure or kill someone under specific conditions, there are other things other than being showered with burnt powder residue to worry about.

For one, Wikipedia and my memory coincide by listing the noise produced by a M84 stun grenade at ~180db within five feet. I’m told that noise above 140db can cause immediate damage to hearing… http://www.howstuffworks.com/question124.htm

Seems to me that there is at least one SWAT cop who should be facing multiple criminal assault charges, if not multiple cops facing “conspiracy to commit” charges.

Proof once again….there are a LOT of “special” cops out there….and I mean “special” in the short bus way.

Why? In case there’s a hostage situation on a highway?

What do they do when there are no on-highway hostage situations? Combat the scourge of mobile meth labs that roam the state in custom equipped tractor trailers?

Oh… I get it… since the Highway Patrol has, in theory… jurisdiction throughout the state, they can assist any of the local jurisdictions with their SWAT team raid needs. Kinda like a state sponsored Mercenary Squad.

That seems dangerously close to ‘posse comitatus’, doesn’t it? Why not use the Missouri National Guard’s SWAT teams for this instead? Oh… because that’s a MILITARY unit. What about hiring Blackwater Security? Oh… because they would be actual Mercenaries. That’s a pretty thin line there.

Flash bang grenades are used in the juvenile prison that I am familiar with so I guess school is getting more and more like prison.

Can you imagine what would happen to a student who did that as a prank? He’d probably be charged with terrorism.

Hell, a student can get in arrested for bringing a tiny plastic Lego gun to school or doodling on a desk with erasable marker.

But a cop can set off a flash grenade, showering kids in actual gun powder and deafening them?

The fact that “zero tolerance” is applied to a child who makes a shape resembling a gun with their fingers yet isn’t applied to a cop constituting actual physical damage and harm is proof positive that such a policy is utter and complete bullshit.

Or at least it would be in a rational society…

Completely unprofessional. Maybe next time they can shoot a bunch of people and plant dugs on the bodies to interest kids in law enforcement.

And they want us to call them ‘professionals?’

Cops: the one job where you can do something stupid, plead ignorance, have that plea be acceptable, and still get to boss people around with a gun and a Taser.
