You Should Get Showtime
Monday, April 12th, 2010For several months, I’ve been working with the producers of Penn & Teller’s Showtime show Bullshit! on an episode about the criminal justice system. It’ll air in Season 8, which kicks off this summer. I’ll let you know when I know the specific date my episode airs.
Anyway, I was reminded of all of this by the following Tweet from Penn Jillette’s feed:
Bullshit Season 8: Offering viewers the job of rubbing oil all over big naked tits while Teller rides a real pony around.
Strangely, I don’t recall any of this when I taped my interview. Seems like something I would have remembered.
So you should get Showtime. Not just to see me. Or oiled-up boobs. Though both are fine reasons in and of themselves. But also to support the network that puts these brilliant libertarian showmen on the air. And if you’re ever in Vegas, be sure to catch their show at the Rio. It’s fantastic.

Congratulations. Can’t wait to see it.
About the show at the Rio – I agree completely. I saw it just a few weeks ago and it was incredible.
Just saw their show in Vegas this weekend. They created a metal Bill of Rights with the 4th Amendment highlighted so that you can intentionally set off TSA metal detectors, and then educate them about our Human Rights/Warrantless Search & Seizure.
They have several seasons of Bullshit on DVD. Great show.
Few people have a better life than Penn. Show is awesome.
Unfortunately, I’ve seen very few of these episodes, despite the fact that they have have been going for 8 seasons.
My problem is the value. The seasons are tiny… 11 half hour episodes. That hardly fills one DVD, much less a box set.
A NORMAL season of a show is 22 to 24 hour long shows.
A season of BULLSHIT should be on 2 DVDs in a single case for 15 bucks, tops.
If you think the DVDs are too expensive (although I dissagree), seasons 4,5,and 6 are available on Netflix instant streaming, which is fantastic. I just watched the Wal Mart episode, very well done. Can’t wait to see Radley on an episode. Hopefully you didn’t stare at the camera for too long.
Congratulations, Radley. I can’t think of a better forum for showcasing your work than Bullshit!.
Bob, you can rent the seasons on Netflix.. overall much cheaper
You can stream some of the eps on Netflix also.
Bullshit is an awesome show and I’m glad I’ve got Showtime now. Showtime also runs a lot of programs that appeal to libertarian and/or agnostic/atheist folks (not just the late night porn). It’s definitely one of my favorite networks and well worth paying for.
Why isn’t Season 7 on iTunes already? Why do they encourage people to pirate good content by restricting its availability and bundling it for sale with worthless shit?
We’ve had Showtime in our home for years. I haven’t seen Bullshit’s most recent few seasons, so it looks like I have some catching up to do.
Nice Radley. “Bullshit!” rules. Does the show’s eventual legitimate availability on Netflix — to which I subscribe — make up for the fact that I’ll probably BitTorrent this episode?
Yeah, didn’t think so. My bad.
I am not exaggerating when I say that I had hoped beyond all hope that something like this would happen someday. I didn’t think they’d tackle the criminal justice system since they’d already done Big Brother. Congratulations. I have no doubt that it will be the finest episode of the upcoming season. I’m certainly looking forward to it!
Don’t forget Weeds. A sitcom about Pot is always welcome in my house.
Is this the sexting episode? They asked me to appear to discuss sexting and how we sacrifice our young to the sex offender roles. Problem was I just blogged about the topic; I’ve never actually represented a sexting defendant. I didn’t feel qualified so I declined.
yowza. $82.50/ticket for penn and teller’s show. I could eat something really delicious or get drunk on something that won’t give me a hangover for that.

Have you been to Vegas? The only things free there are the buffets and the courtesy of losing your wallet.
Nice…love that show
I always knew you were full of bullshit, Radley!
But seriously, congratulations. I love that show and I’m glad to see you’re a part.
Now, you just need to get on Mythbusters and Southpark to hit the trifecta.
This is so cool! I always get wicked excited when my favorite Reason/Cato people appear on the show. Nice to know that you’re involved as well.
And an episode on the criminal justice system? Yes! Can’t wait!
Rubbing oil on naked tits: unfortunately, they are probably Penn Gillette’s man boobs
goober1223,
I was in Vegas in January for a fencing tournament. No free buffets. The food is as expensive as anywhere else, maybe more. And buffet quality has gone downhill.
I was aiming more at weak humor and stereotype to exemplify that Las Vegas can definitely be quite expensive. When my brother took me for my 21st we saw the Blue Man Group. I think the tickets for that show were 150 for the pair. In reality, the only cheap thing I did there was play at the $3 minimum blackjack tables and sipping on the free drinks. I’m so risk averse, I decided that I was okay with losing $100 over the weekend. I lost $25 the first time I sat down. The next day I went up $70, overall, and decided that my luck couldn’t get any better. My brother, on the other hand, went up $300 about 5 times, only to fall all the way back down again. Plus he decided to learn how to play craps while betting on it. Somehow he managed to come out even, though he could have ended up at least $500 up easily and paid for the whole trip. Oh well… Family, eh?
Penn & Teller did a great episode about circumcision. It was one of the few episodes where they really changed my opinion on a subject. Usually I already agree with them. It was also horribly graphic, which really got the message across.
Congrats! I was wondering when they would get around to having you contribute.
I loathe Vegas by if I ever have to be there again P&T is absolutely going to be a priority.

There are times, very rare times, when the writing on a blog can be considered at the level of literature and this line is one of them.
