Based on the comments, I will now sign up for HBO and wait for the DVD. I am so glad to see Bunk and Lester. These two guys each need an Oscar, as well as the directors. I dream of having dinner with Bunk – he is such an interesting actor and character.

Rhayader, I don’t dissagree with anything you said … my father loved the Sopranos and the Wire was good but too depressing for me … I guess a 10-part miniseries isn’t a ‘show’ per say but I was mainly trying to denote “anything other than a movie”. I was mainly just giving Radley a hard time about being an HBO shill :)

Joev I feel your pain. They’re filming a recurring scene in The Levee guy’s house on Lowerline about a block from where I live. Twice a month or so all the streets get blocked off and my favorite corner store is overrun. Can’t wait to see teh results though.

I guess I should have said Wendell Pierce and Clarke Peters, the actors who played Bunk and Lester. Bunk and Lester will not be appearing. Bunk is out drinking somewhere chasing tail, and Lester is making some dollhouse miniatures while riding Chardene.

The show will be as good as the title isn’t. Horrible choice – “Tremé” – just what Simon needed, to make his brilliant work less approachable.

Wire fans will be interested to know the Bunk and Lester Freeman are major cast members.

it’s a PITA living in NOLA’s Bywater because they do a LOT of Treme filming here. In my part of the neighbourhood yesterday we were playing Chinese fire drill trying to move our cars for a 5 am to 2 pm shoot that took up practically the entire road.

@James D: I'm not entirely disagreeing, and I dropped HBO a while ago. But come on now -- The Sopranos and The Wire were each far more valuable than any movie released during HBO's existence. I'd sooner pay for quality original content like that than movies anyway, what with the Netflix and the Redbox and whatnot. Also, minor quibble: neither Band of Brothers (which, yes, was fantastic) nor The Pacific are actually proper TV series.

If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’re getting paid by HBO … you seem to like every show they make. :)

I’m signing up for 3 months to get my ‘The Pacific’ fix and then ditching them … HBO has become for movies what MTV has become for music videos. It all about shows now. I haven’t really liked any of them much except Band of Brothers (hence my interest in The Pacific).
