Drill baby drill!!
oh wait.
A friend of mine calls the rays of light through the clouds and mist phenomenon “Jesus Rays.” I always thought that was an interesting name for them. Definitely a shorter name.
Great photo, too.

The actual term is crepuscular rays. I looked it up one time when I was entering a writing contest based on a picture of some. There are a bunch of alternative names (including Jesus beams :) )my favorite is Ropes of Maui based on the Maori mythological story. The wikipedia link to it is a fun read.
For some strange reason, I prefer the term “Jacob’s Ladder.”

Great picture. A great reminder why I like living here.
