Driving 140 MPH on a private race course (or in a video game) isn’t a crime for which you can be arrested.

Sure it is, disturbing the peace. The catch all that the cops use to arrest people.

Do I think you should be legally allowed to smoke pot @ home if you like? Sure, I don’t care – smoke all you want. But the fact is that in this example (and the real one, involving manga), the guy is facing charges for the contraband, not the literal action of smoking or importing a comic book.

I’m asking about the style of headline writing. Clearly there is a difference between “Man arrested for driving” and “Man arrested for driving 140 MPH” – and I’m curious why Radley chose the former when the latter is quite a bit more accurate.

This is more akin, quite frankly, to “man arrested for driving 140 MPH in video game”

To my view, the headline used here is optimal, since by deliberately omitting the shock value that in too many people reflexively provokes the creation of bad laws, it forces readers to assess the category from which the unpopular species commonly distracts reasoned consideration.

“Man arrested for importing drawings” would do about as well.

Presumably he’s blind but turned on by socialist tendencies?

You’d think that it’d be a (relatively) good thing that people inclined to look at kiddie porn would get their fix from drawings rather than photos. As the 3D poser software becomes more realistic, this will lead to more issues as it becomes more difficult to tell real from fake.

This was the same commenter who described her as “hot”, so I’m not especially inclined to take his word on the “socialist” part.

That’s why I used the word “depicts” and not “documents”.

They’re not real children.

According to one of the commenters on ratemyprofessor, she’s a socialist, but only talks about it after class. Socialism is pretty much the opposite of libertarianism, not sure why that bothers you.

Unrelated – there’s now an interview with Bishop’s husband. He says that after she shot 6 people she called him and asked him to pick her up. By the time he got there, she was arrested already.
