In a related thread, City Paper has coverage of how well DC politicians clear their own sidewalks (as required by city law). http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/
Some do well, others are completely AWOL. They seem to have no concept of setting a good example.
Even better, a group of civic minded Washingtonians are shovelling sidewalks, and then putting snarky “you’re welcome” flyers on the businesses, and posting on the web those businesses that can’t get off their a** and shovel. http://greatergreaterwashington.org/post.cgi?id=4860
Oh, it seems that the DC police are arresting people randomly if they see snowballs being thrown, even if the person didnt throw anything. No gun waving, at least… http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/
Wait, no word on TheAgitator domain registration expiring today? That domain parking page was not what I expected this morning! ;)
Some of the best memories I have of living in the DC metro area were of helping neighbors shovel their walks and driveways.Somebody would bring out cookies and/or hot cocoa to share, and you’d get a real chance to talk with your neighbors instead of the usual hurried “morning” exchanges.
That said, I don’t know how*anyone* is getting around on the East Coast today. I thought I’d seen some storms, but this is ridiculous. Good luck to you guys and gals–wish I could send more than good thoughts your way.
Come to think, it seems obvious to me now that helping my neighbors dig their way out of the snow had a significant contribution to my becoming a libertarian.
This picture is “postcard perfect”. :)
Heads I win, tails you lose. Global warming/climate change is the cause of snow on the east coast, and it is also the cause of the lack of snow.

Looks like some sort of glitch with his nameserver entry. I had to flush my DNS entries to get here this morning.
Dude,
I live two blocks from there. You should convene a post-blizzard drink up at Fireflies.
Cordially,
Uncle J
Del Ray huh? Check out Al’s Steaks for an incredibly generous and greasy, artery clogging sub. I’ve played golf with the owner a couple of times. He’s simpatico, 1950′s style.
