Andy Prieboy
Sunday, January 31st, 2010Got a nice email from the artist Andy Prieboy after I mentioned his song on Friday.
Thank you so much for your kind words regarding “Tomorrow Wendy.” I am very grateful that you would take the time to share those thoughts with others. Presently, I am trying to work out a deal with the song’s publishers, Universal Music Publishing, to get it on iTunes.
Reading your bio , I see we both originated from the state of Indiana . I come from industrial northwest corner . In case you don’t already know, this song is about a woman who worked and died in the red light district of Hammond, Indiana and nearby Calumet City, Illinois. The location shots you see in the video are from her area .
He was also nice enough to send me an MP3 of his version of the song.

Hooray for the internets!
Cool.
Brilliant. –Your first posting sent me scurrying off for the Concrete Blonde version, too, which it turned out my roommate already had. Sure hope Prieboy’s shows up on iTunes soon!
It’s great that he saw your post, and was able to send you an .mp3. On the other hand, it’s really disturbing to hear that the artist who wrote the song and performed a fantastic version of it has to “negotiate” with a publishing company to make it available for sale. I’d love to know more about that situation.
#4: The music industry is six different kinds of fucked up.
Very cool, Radley.
Yep…any chance he could let you put it (the mp3) up for download for us readers for a nod at the tip jar? I keep thinking about just buying the album but as previously mentioned the $60 or so cost on amazon doesn’t leave me inclined to finish the sale.
@4:
Because he sold the rights to the song (or at least licensed them)?
Andy’s version was recorded first, but Concrete Blonde’s album was released before his, so… guess he kinda got screwed a little. Both versions are beautiful though.
I’d love to know more about that situation.
I’d like to know why the Woodie Guthrie song got cut from Sammystown lp.
Very cool that you have this stuff happen. And it IS a great song.
