Nick T in 28: they NEED to be delayed on line. If they are speeded through to “do their jobs”, the citizens of The City that Works get another bunch of laws, restrictions, taxes, and prohibitions on commerce. Let ‘em wait.

The behavior is easily explained: what can one expect from career politicians?

As for the dog-jacking cops: anyone care to guess how many are on the mailing lists or membership rosters of Focus on the Family, Family Research Council, Americans for Truth, etc? How loud their voices are in the choir each Sunday morning? How many homosexuals they have beaten to a pulp in the alley behind the Club Colours bar? (perverts, you know!)

I’ve reached the point that when I am in a new town (I travel a lot) and am looking for a restaurant, I will not go in one with cop cars in the lot. Rental cars stick out a mile, and to some of these people, out-of-towners are seen as easy pickings.

I first read that as “It was like she was on the sea of tranquility”, which, I suppose, is also accurate.

You could tell he had excellent peripheral vision, being the first to notice the cop coming up from behind and then telling his attorney when he saw him take the papers. It was like he had eyes in back of his head. I guess guys in prison develop keen senses due to having to watch their back constantly. It was like he felt the guy coming up. A little later in the tape you could see the convict staring those two down. I’m not sure he’s the one who needs protection.

I don’t understand the Halloween costume. Can someone please explain in excruciating detail? I understand what low resolution is, pixelated, blah blah blah but don’t see how the person’s face plays into it. Her face doesn’t look pixelated. If I’m supposed to ignore her face as part of the costume, then I’d say it’s not clever at all.

Off-duty Iowa patrolman shoots, kills neighbor’s black lab. Note that the police spokesman concedes that officers get no training on how to deal with dogs.

What’s the problem here? Aren’t police officers supposed to keep in practice during their off-duty hours?

I’ve followed Mr. Root since the 2008 LP convention and while I see that some people may have valid critiques of his business background I would love to have those with critiques lay them out and not claim that he is a “creep”.
As for taxes and guns, there is plenty and then some to assail on the issue of excessive taxation and given the fact that the outright advocates of government as (the only) solution have been elected to office in 2008 (the Republicans at least lied about their desire for government) a defense of private firearms ownership is as needful as ever.

What strikes me is that they take it out, copy it, admit that’s what they’re doing, bring it back and take the copies. The lawyer protests saying it’s a clear violation of atty-clt privilege, and the judge just shrugs and says that an issue for a different day. Like hell it is. Atty-clt priv. is something just about every lawyer views as sacrosanct. Speaking as an administrative judge, if somebody tried something like that in my courtroom, they’d be kicked out so fast they wouldn’t know what hit them. And that’s because I have no contempt powers. If I did, I wouldn’t think twice about throwing the deputy’s ass in jail.

To me…the fact that the judge didn’t do a thing to stop it…I dunno. I think that’s cause to haul her up before the judicial tenure commission or whatever they have in AZ.

I thought in 2008 the LP should have thrown their support behind Ron Paul, maybe they would if he won the nomination in 2012

Don’t want to threadjack here, but haven’t seen this anywhere else: Maricopa County (Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s goons) steal docs from a defense attorney in the middle of a sentencing, caught on video. Judge doesn’t do anything about it. What the hell?
