-1 for nitpicking. L.A. County is L.A. City, county — makes no difference whatsoever.

One thing that is NOT L.A. is Orange County. That is not a nitpick, as those of us who were aghast at the renaming of the Angels have pointed out.

The Groin Girl story is disconcerting, mostly because of the reaction to it. We’re sort of conditioned to laugh, but that’s some serious shit. I’ve got one immensely fucked up sense of humor, but there’s a larger issue at play, one that resolves around mens’ rights. If the genders were reversed we wouldn’t be taking pokes at the poor fucks who were just walking down the street.

There was a girl in my high school that got her kicks out of popping guys in the balls with her fist as she walked down the hall in between class. I saw her get a few other guys before she tried me. I was ready and hit her so hard she dented the locker she bounced off of. Funny thing was that everybody laughed at her and didn’t get mad at me for hitting a girl.

Budget-deficited California, Los Angeles move ahead with plans to build a taxpayer-funded professional football stadium. Despite the fact that they, um, don’t actually have a professional football team.

I would like to know:
1) How many stadiums, arenas, ball parks, etc around that were built for the purpose of attracting a sports team that never got one?
2) How many were built and the sports team folded or left within 10 years?
3) How many perfectly good stadiums etc have been torn down to build a newer, far more expensive one to placate the team owner?
4) How many perfectly good stadiums etc are sitting empty because the team owner got a better offer somewhere else and moved the franchise?

and, finally:

5) How much additional space has the devil had to create in hell to support the team owners, mayors, city councillors, promoters and sports flacks who have lied through their teeth to get these things built?

A beverage with an alcohol content of .5% is not capable of getting any healthy individual drunk, because the rate of excretion of alcohol from body would be greater than the rate of ingestion, no matter how much of it one were to drink.

Hell, the article even says that a person would have to drink 28 bottles of lemonade just to get the amount of alcohol found in the average beer (i.e. 5%).

What’s Maine going to do for an encore? Ban minors from purchasing mouthwash?

I think on the New Hampshire story, some poster is trying to stack the deck. I caught this over there:
