Pictures like this always make me wonder. The guys fishing, do you think they appreciate, every day, the beauty surrounding them? This is an amazing photo, Radley, and a landscape worthy of such a dramatic photo.
I work in a hospital on a river and every day I come into the office I am watching the sun rise and watch how the water changes colors as the sun burns off the morning haze over the day —
Surely the guys in this photo have some appreciation …right?
@Mojopin:
Yes, we do. That’s why we fish.
I don’t know of a single fisherman that doesn’t realize how great the surrounding is. For example, if you’re surf casting off Martha’s Vineyard and the fish aren’t biting, you’re still on a beach on Martha’s Vineyard!
“A bad day of fishing beats a great day of work.”
That said, “Some men fish their whole life without realizing it is not fish they are after.”
Hey, is that Russia over there?
Comment of the week – Paul Shaffer and David Letterman are discussing Sarah Palin’s book, along with Paul Shaffer’s book (coming out within a week). Paul jokes “I can see her book from my house!”
I don’t fish, golf, or go to college. I do not need an excuse to drink.
The more I look at the more I notice he is not fishing he is peeing.
It is a nice photo.
Even though the horizon has some tilt, this is one of my favorite compositions.
You’ve really got an eye for photography, Radley. This is just further evidence of that fact. Thanks so much for sharing these incredible images with us.
It reminds me of the John West salmon commercial:

Which one’s Homer?
