I had a federal job once at a institution I will not name. There was an ancient guy there of legendary status who spent the entire day, every day shamelessly looking at porn on his computer. He would even keep it running when people came to his cubicle to have some sort of interaction with him. When I asked about it I was told that because of his tenure it was easier to just let it go than try and do anything about it. It definitely was one of the most hilarious situations I’ve ever encountered.

I agree with you about that. I remember back when the Blagojevich story was in the headlines the only media source that I get regularly that didn’t edit his actual quotes was the Economist. For that brief moment it felt nice to be treated as an adult. Fuck censorship especially when its fucking done on behalf of fucking children who might fucking see a curse word in the morning fucking news. :)

As far as liberal commentators go, Maddow is quite tolerable. She’s certainly more of a civil libertarian than most talking heads I’m aware of, and she doesn’t hesitate to call Obama out on his bullshit.

Re: the NSF porn thing. I can overlook that the Washington Times piece is bad sensationalistic “journalism” featuring the horribly inappropriate use of the word “rampant.” I expect nothing less.

What shocks me is the apparent fact that the Inspector General of the NSF, an agency that doles out *billions* in grant money, not only has pulled agents off of criminal grant fraud investigations to *instead* investigate non-criminal employee admin cases, he/she has admitted that fact *publicly*.

Amazing. The OIG is there to investigate fraud, waste and abuse, not cause it.

I hate the sensation of being drunk, I’ve experienced it 4 times in my 65 years (all before I turned 25) and each time I got so sick that the last time I said “never again!”, I’ve stuck to that. My limit is three drinks over an entire evening, spread out, and that very seldom, usually it is one glass of wine with dinner. I prefer a bong load, any day, over a drink, on pot I can enjoy myself without getting maudlin, aggressive or sick, and I can still drive safely.
