isn’t that the post office that was supposed to be auctioned off startign at $300,000?
That’s the Chicago Merchandise Mart.
Two tidbits about the Merchandise Mart that I’ve heard: 1) it was the largest building in the world until the Pentagon was built, and 2) it’s owned by the Kennedy family.
my office is across the river from merch mart. it normally doesn’t look this dirty. perhaps just the photography. it’s an amazing building, though.
Wow. If the capition didn’t say “Chicago” I would have thought “Bucharest, Romania, Ceaucescu era”.
What a monstrosity.
I’m pretty sure that’s where Winston Smith works.
if course it’s a monstrosity, it’s where buyers go to see what’s new. An ode to Capitalism, it should be bigger shouldn’t it?
AND it’s owned by the liburl minded Kennedys
The Kennedy grandchildren sold the building to Vornado Realty and divided the proceeds several years ago, but Christopher Kennedy is still the CEO.
Mark: What are you talking about? The thing has looked like that pretty much as long as I can remember.
This picture looks like the front of the building is wet due to rain.
