It's very easy to lie with statistics.

What percent of the population growth was illegal aliens vs legal population growth? Was the real population growth numbers tracked? How did they decide what numbers for illegal aliens to use?

What is the rate of crime within the illegal alien population that is not reported at all? Not addressing the under reporting of crime is a very easy way to "show" a drop in crime without it reflecting reality.

They go out of their way to ignore legality status, which is a very big clue as to the direction of their study.

Ignoring under reporting by illegal aliens is perhaps the biggest lie told by thie article.

I will stick my neck out hee a bit, but it is not the direct illegals that cause the challenges, it is their offspring. Go back in history of all immigrants and the problems caused by the first generation offspring. That I think would be an interesting study.

Pacifically as to the current southern invasion. Yes American owned companies are indeed employing large numbers of illegals. Amazingly I would bet a bunch, that those companies are also owned by former Mexicans, err southerners first/second generation minorities!

All minorities are granted some level of "specialness" from our government, and they have taken massive advantage of it.

I've listened to the exact same stuff about us employers taking advantage of those from another country for many years. I could have NEVER hired a "wetback", Poll, russian or anybody else EVER for less that what the law determined was an acceptable wage.

But if I knew the target language and they did not know the resident language.... meaning they can talk, and I'm their only source of information... I'm in a position of taking advantage. I know from first hand accounts that such happened and continues to happen.

Expand the thought to many persons of many different country sources with "contacts" within the USA.

You are becoming enlightened. It's not the us employer in charge any longer, it's the koyote, the one that speaks both languages and has the ability to manipulate the system.

Such is but one reason you can't find a company laying plaster to a wall where anyone can actually speak English, sans a few words.

See in reality slavery still exists in the US and many other countries today. 2009! And we all still buy into it. It just changed forms and industries.

Such is a known, but never discussed, feeder to the problem.

I think Radley's work is great for debunking anti-immigrant prejudices, but not all crime is violent.

A commenter on Bud Kennedy's article points to a report on identity theft that makes a convincing case that rampant fake documentation has real victims, too. So while illegal immigrant communities are safe, there are real costs unfairly imposed on the citizens whose identities were stolen to employ those communities.

If we're to be permissive about fake documentation, what does one say to the person finding themselves on the hook for loans they didn't borrow/crimes they didn't commit/tax bills for income they didn't receive, or being denied safety net benefits because of the actions of a 3rd party? Should the government offer everyone ID theft insurance, forcing taxpayers to foot the bill?

I'm still very much torn on the immigration debate. I recognize that criminalizing a huge % of the population/economy is not a solution, but there must be rational means to decentivize future illegal border crossings.

No comprende, it's a riddle

Not only that, I just hear on the radio about black helicopters and the New World Order. We are all doomed!

That was after subtracting the cost of emergency healthcare and their American-born children’s education

But did they subtract the cost of illegals in prison? General indigent healthcare? welfare? illegal immigrants generate a large amount of wealth, but usually for business owners. It's the taxpayer that foots the cost of everything else.

they don’t have time to go around planning and plotting on the white man

But as long as they keep making great empanadas, it's all worth the trade-off

It would make sense that if immigrants are busy working their asses off, they don't have time to go around planning and plotting on the white man.

Just my 2 cents.
