The defense’s response to the State concentrated primarily on Haynes testifying in redirect, through use of hypotheticals from the prosecutor, as to body positions on the part of Cory that might have accounted for certain entrance wounds and trajectories, to which the defense at the time objected and was over ruled. The current defense is arguing that those objections should have been sustained.

No response to the State’s attorney’s arguments about sufficiency of evidence that I heard.

There was some talk about the venue changes, but having missed the defense’s arguments, I can’t really comment on how well the two arguments compare.

Did anyone tune in early enough to hear?

Unfortunately, another judge, if you can tell only by the questions he’s asked, doesn’t seem too enthusiastic about Cory’s arguments. The third judge was mostly silent.

Overall I’d say it went as well as could be expected for Cory; his lawyers certainly outclassed the state’s.

The State’s attorney seems somewhat incoherent to me. I came into the stream a bit late, so I missed the beginning. When I came in, one of the judge’s was asking the State’s attorney to explain why Wheeler wasn’t pertinent in this case. Her response seemed to indicate that Wheeler didn’t apply because in Wheeler some officers were clearly identified as police, but in Cory’s case he “did or should have” known that the person entering his premises was police.

She also seems to argue that Steven Hayes is an expert because he’s an expert.

The defense is preparing to respond to her. Apparently I missed the defense’s initial statements, darn it!

Yeah, it’s those good “Christian” values like murder, arson, vandalism and hate.

I used to have the Darwin fish on my car but I got tired or replacing it every time it was stolen (at least weekly), so I put on a bumper sticker of the same thing instead. That got the bumper of my car spray painted black.
