Live Chat Query

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

In general, when I ask someone to do a live chat here, would you all prefer it be held during the day or in the evening?

So far, I’ve tried to schedule them either during the lunch hour (eastern time) or later in the evening.

I’m curious to know which time would make you more likely to (a) watch and read, and (b) submit a question.

Evenings for me too. CoverIt doesn’t work through my work computer’s filters.

Put me in the evenings camp too, though I’m primarily a lurker. :)

Bookmarked and reminder to myself written. Might we have an open thread to have a live discussion about the arguments as they happen?

I second the idea for an open thread for discussion on the oral arguments for Cory Maye.

Since I’m on the west coast, it’s highly likely I’ll still be at work no matter what time you schedule these chat sessions. Unless you’re planning on scheduling them after 9PM ET.

Evenings unless it’s over a weekend. I don’t usually have internet access during working hours, have to go to a restaurant or hotel with WiFi.

Not to be contrarian, I have to vote for during the day–but that’s probably because read news and blogs all day as part of my job. Not to mention, my commute is a mother and I’m usually listening to baseball and/or (should I say this publicly?) playing online poker when I am home and online.

Although I do find it odd that the people reading/voting in the 11 o clock/noon hour are voting for evening.

I’m obviously going to be outvoted here, but I would prefer the daytime. So just do a personal one for me around 10am eastern, then you can re-do it for everyone else later. Mmmkay?

More likely for me is daytime for both a & b.

Evening, because I’m a night owl and six time zones east of EST.

Evenings. I pop on during the day to comment now and then, but I don’t have a consistent lunch hour I know I can be free during.

Also, I’d just like to say that I’ve taken part in a few live chats so far, watching and asking questions, and I think it’s a really for us to delve into this stuff in a more concrete way. I don’t think we faithful readers tend to abstract all of it too much, but the ask-and-answer thing really brings it all home in a tangible way and adds an element that we, or, at least, I, wouldn’t normally experience. Thanks very much.

Evenings, as well. It’s much more convenient, and thanks for hosting such interesting Q & A.

So long as I can read it after the fact, I’m fine. Just make sure it’s published for later viewing.

I’m with Joe. I can never reliably count on free time, unless it’s after 8:30 pm, by which point I’m already too tired to think.

I’m happy being able to read after the fact, and maybe submitting a question before hand.
