it’s an independent agency radley, not the gummint. the most they can do is refer over to a gummint agency that might or might not take any action.

not sure how this plays into the nanny state thing–to be certain, i was expecting an MP hauling beeb execs before a tribunal based on the title of the feed.

It’s a good thing they don’t have the Internet over there, or else their citizens would be able to see the trailers as originally intended. Thankfully, since they can’t own guns legally there probably isn’t any gun crime anyway. *sigh*

Many years ago, during the Manley Administration in Jamaica, they edited out scenes from US TV shows that portrayed violence committed with guns. Guess the UK is heading that way, eventually.

They should pull the ads because the movie wasn’t that great

Wantede was a pretty good action flick. It is not meant for the ‘Academy’ it is to have a good night at the movies.

A body with no regulatory authority issues a decision with no binding power on an advertisement that the advertiser is, in all likelihood, finished airing. Bold action, that.

Sounds to me like a bunch of bureaucratic pipsqueaks are trying to increase the perception of their power by issuing a decision that no party is likely to expend resources challenging, which will then look as if it had some impact.
