Agitator Live Chat Tonight at 8pm: Cory Maye’s Defense Team
Monday, March 16th, 2009Abe Pafford and Ben Vernia, two members of Cory Maye’s defense team, will join us at 8pm ET tonight for a live chat.
Stop by with your questions about Cory’s case and his appeal, now pending at the Mississippi Court of Appeals.
Here are the briefs for Maye’s appeal:

Holy crap! *kisses Radley for his awesomeness*
Someone remind me to ask why they didn’t object to the widow’s “testimony”.
Edwin — You seem to be confusing Cory Maye with Ryan Frederick…
It’s been quite a while since I’d heard anything about Cory Maye. It’s good to hear his appeal is pending. I need to send some money his way.
Hmmm, seems I got Cory’s “isolated incident” mixed up with Ryan’s “isolated incident.”
I hope Radley doesn’t mind if I use this thread to offer the link to my petition to the State of Mississippi. It was eloquently written but the site, Go Petition would not approve some of it. So after my editing and theirs…what is on the site is what remains.
I wanted more…but for now this will have to do.
It shows links to Radley’s articles and includes a direct letter to Mississippi AG Jim Hood. ( I am not a professional writer and am sure someone could have done a better job.)
At least I am giving it a shot by getting involved and taking ACTION.
The letter is demanding a full-scale investigation of Hayne and West, to re-open the cases in which they testified in and to place a moratorium on the death penalty.
(I am against the DP completely but for now a moratorium will have to do)
Please copy and paste this link into your web browser and sign the petition:

PLEASE forward this link to everyone.
Thanx in advance
Also I am looking forward to the LIVE CHAT. I will be traveling during that time but hopefully will have reached my destination before the chat begins.
As always Radley is the MAN!
That is a great brief by his defense team. It seems kind of overwhelming (89 pages) but, as with most briefs, it’s sectioned off very clearly and is double-spaced so it reads very quickly, especially when you skip the largely procedural parts.
It gives an amazing overview of exactly how the trial played out, how the law should have applied and all the ways in which the prosecutors, the defense attorney and the judge (like whoa) acted in concert to bring about a horrible injustice. The jury instructions part is great, and it’s insane to think that the judge would not infomr the jury that, for example, the prosecutors had the burden of proving that there was no self-defense.
Keep your fingers crossed everybody.
Judi, I already signed your petition and put it on twitter. That being said, if anyone wants to send money to Cory Maye directly (i.e. to his inmate account) it now has to be done through Cybersuite. Looking forward to tonight!
Thanx Lorraine! I am hoping this catches on like a wild fire. The petition gives everyone voice in telling the state of Mississippi that WE THE PEOPLE will no longer be silent and let them do nothing!
Thanx to Radley for his fortitude and courage to bring these travesties of justice to light so that people like me have a foundation to build upon.
By the way Lorraine, I sent Radley an e-mail giving him my permission to give you my e-mail address.
You can also send me one on the petition site as well.
