A symposium? That will fix it. I really don't think our young friend from Indiana understands what kind of truly shitty people are out there. It's gotten much worse since the breakdown of our family and the attacks on church. America is more dishonest and corrupt, top to bottom than anytime in our history and it will only get worse. There is no mechanism to reverse the tide of idiocy and lawlessness. We must keep putting folks that break our laws in jail so that those that seek an honest life can reap the rewards.

My grandparents' place in VT was robbed twice in quick succession in the 1980's.

First by some private burglars, then a few hours later by the sheriff collecting "evidence", who told my mother to "shut up" when she pointed out the burglars hadn't taken any silverware - obviating the need for him to have samples to compare any recovered loot with.

I believe no stolen property was ever returned by either gang.

After reading more of the responses, apparently a friend of the old man that was shot, says his house was broken into and items previously taken. I guess the old guy was pissed off about that, to begin with!

It is suggested that thefts actually, happened during the first police visit, referred to in that news article. It is sounding a lot like the Ryan Frederick case, except the cops "confiscated" the items, themselves. Just turns out that, this guy got what Ryan, luckily, did not! I think this case deserves to be watched closely. But, the cops got rid of the only eye witness, anyway!?

My dad goes to bed at dark. And, it must be remembered, too, that the first couple hours of sleep are the deepest phase of sleep. There are so many factors that, really, add up to making this completely wrong!

The money quote from the Cato article:

...we benefit from a system of suffering, rooted in state violence, meted out at our behest. Put differently our society — the society we together have made — first tolerates crime-promoting conditions in our sprawling urban ghettos, and then goes on to act out rituals of punishment against them as some awful form of human sacrifice.

"One of the two cops who shot and killed Isaac Singletary has been fired after an investigation into possible corruption of a Crimestoppers reward program."

Proof that the only thing that will take down a cop are commission of crimes for personal gain. Barring clear malintent, no other actions (e.g., shooting and killing Isaac Singletary) will be prosecuted.

Optimism must be tempered in this case, though, as Boyd points out he is only "ordered terminated" and will appeal the decision. Probably will lead to a resignation with full pension.

On the crimestopper cop criminal:

"Detective James G. Narcisse has been ordered terminated and is on leave without pay..."

I've never seen these words arranged in this fashion before. He still gets paid while filing an appeal, right? I mean he's a cop!

I heard on NPR yesterday that neither Biden nor Kerlikowske used the term "drug war" in the news conference yesterday. Also, what the article said, drug czar is being demoted to a non-cabinet level position.

thomasblair,

It's like all those news reports that talk about "enhanced innterrogation techniques" as though there any genuine debate over what America did in the last 7 years constitutes torture. Reporting facts is biased and unprofessional apparently.

From the drug czar nomination article:

Since President Richard Nixon first declared a war on drugs nearly four decades ago, the government has spent billions of dollars with mixed results, according to independent studies and drug policy scholars.

His mother said police arrived at the home and banged on the door.

He said Crawford's boyfriend, Hubert Henkel, 68, got a shotgun, went to the door and was shot by police.

Sounds like another whispered knock-and-"announce" by a raid team.
