MacK, you made my day. Usually in this context, CCM=Christian Contemporary Music. Unfortunately, said music too often comes across as sounding polished to a gleaming fakeness, which is what I assume MacK means, not having heard the guy sing.

I made a mistake in my earlier post. I confused Ricky Braddy with Brent Keith, the country guy. Braddy actually was quite good, and I prefer him to Michael, but not to Anoop.

Give me Alexis and Anoop. And I think you are seriously underestimating the Indian voting bloc behind Anoop. And over-estimating how boring Ricky Braddy was.

To each their own, of course, but I hate American Idol. I find it to be nothing more than a glorified popularity contest with a smattering of decent singing thrown in for good(?) measure. It’s not worth my time and emotion to see the best singers get removed because they aren’t as good looking as Dirk McThickchin or Sally Bigboobs. The only season I watched was 3 and I just couldn’t bring myself to watch it ever again when the true talents in that show are never given their proper due.

As Simon Cowell said once, “You let America vote and this is what you get.” Amen.

Braddy was a surprise. Its a pick ‘em with the ladies. I did a LOT of fast forwarding on the DVR. Most songs were too painful.

I don’t like having the 4 judges. Takes too long for their respective reviews. Abdul was sky high, but came down to a good mellow near the end of the show.

Freakin’ finally. I’ve been waiting for Idol blogging for 6 months. About time for some serious issues around here.

You’re right on about last night. Never has there been the kind of disparity between how badly the contestants want to be famous, and how little talent they have. Gokey is an exception, I think. I hope he doesn’t get all Jesus-ey on us.

I agree with Alexis and Danny, but disagree about Braddy. I thought he was bad. Not the worst, but nowhere near the top guy, or the top three (incidentally, I don’t like this new format for choosing the top 12). I’d give the third spot to either Anoop or Michael.

As an aside, I absolutely cannot stand Tatiana, but I’m really scared she’s going to make it through somehow. Her voice really isn’t that bad.

1. I hate Tatiana Del Toro as much as the next reasonable person, but I’ve got to say that she REALLY, REALLY brought it this week.

2. I like Jackie Tohn more than Ricky Brady, but I’m with you on Grace and Gokey.

3. Since some of the other commenters have become the first to say “Why do we have to talk about American Idol?” this year, let me be the first to say “If you don’t like it, comment on other stories.” Radley usually comments on Idol once a week and by April, reading “Why are you writing about American Idol?” every frigging week gets old.

I could seriously give less than a damn about Radley’s posts about sports but I manage to see them and move on.

They showed Jamar in the audience and you know he had to be thinking, WTF? He wasn’t let through and 1/2 the contestants last night sounded like cats in heat.

The format change is interesting too. In past years, you were rewarded for playing it safe. As long as you weren’t the worst, or were likable enough to garner some fans, you could hang around quite a while. But now they’ve flipped it and mediocre won’t get you by the first week. I don’t think many of the contestants understood that.

I’m with Radley’s top 3 on this all the way. I do wish the dark hair good looking Casey Carlson could sing though, she is rather pleasant on the eyes. Thankfully Alexis Grace can sing and is also very nice looking.
I would like to see Tatiana Nicole Del Toro gets tossed real early, because she is one irritating person.

How can the rest of you not like Idol??
I’ll admit for me it is not as good as Survivor, but it is very democratic, since you can vote on a singer you like.
