The phrase “Wrong Door Raid” should definitely enter the lexicon… some one should add it to Urban Dictionary.

Wrong Door Raid… would make a great name for a band.

Drop the Dead Donkey, an old British comedy, did a bit on this in the mid-90's, with the added angle of a reporter who was trying to keep his police sources happy.

When I saw that skit on TV, I actually didn’t think it was all that funny (especially compared to the rest of the show and Martin’s comedy in general, most of which I find hilarious). That’s probably because, as described in (b), above, I’m aware (thanks to this site) of all the botched raids in real life. So the skit wasn’t all that surprising.

LOL at the cop being in trouble for this. They should have ended this sketch with the chief at a press conference saying the officer acted “reasonably and responsibly.”

There was a sketch on Chapelle’s show a few years back where the concept was switching experiences between how the justice system handles white collar criminals and druggies. The cops bust into some accountant’s home with a flashbang and shoot his dog, while they call a crack dealer and make an appointment for him to turn himself in.

At the end the crack dealer is “Pleading the FIF” during a congressional hearing, and the judge sentences the accountant to a lengthy prison stint to “lift weights and convert to Islam.”

It was hilarious and for the life of me I can’t find it anywhere on the web.

People were laughing not when he barged in, but when it was revealed that it was the wrong door. Kinda strange that it didn’t seem absurd for the kid to bust in and start shooting in the first place.

This one ties in nicely with the wrong door raid of the morning links.

This is probably a pretty accurate portrayal of how that one went down except for the two more experienced cops on the scene.

Except for the apology of course.

A former priest at my church was a narcotics officer before seminary. On his last sunday at our church he told a “funny” story about going on a drug raid, and how beautifully everything was going, and how the guy who was going to knock down the door was running towards the front door of the house and didn’t hear the rest of them yelling “Stop!”, and he took down the door and…haha, it was the wrong door.

The church broke up! Seriously, everyone was laughing. Except me and my public defender father-in-law.

No one seemed to get the horror of having your house broken into by an armed man pre-dawn. But I just don’t think any of them had any idea that kind of thing had EVER happened!

That’s the only thing I can see that’s inaccurate. Its pretty sad that’s the only thing.
