Chocolate bunny gore.
A Pittsburgh City Paper columnist on Mary Beth Buchanan. He makes a good point. Sane people would take near-universal criticism as a sign that they’re doing something wrong. Buchanan argues it means everyone is being mean to hear, so she needs a new venue.

Did Bush have the NSA spy on American journalists?
A 1,474-megapixel photo of the inauguration.
We’ve already had the first DEA medical marijuana raids since Obama took office. Let’s hope he keeps his promise to end them.
Rush Limbaugh pines for an America where the government operates in secret, where high-ranking executive branch criminals are protected by a complete lack of transparency, and where the press is kept ignorant of the government’s improprieties. Cue patriotic music!

Limbaugh is as important as Striesand in American political scene…
Regarding Bush having NSA spy on American Journalists … given their penchant for sucking up to assorted thugs and madmen, maybe he should?
Just saying…..
On the subject of cops behaving badly:

Another “cop beats a cripple in a wheelchair” story, this time with a happy ending.
We must imprison everyone with a water pipe. This is the most pressing criminal issue in our nation. That Chong guy should be on the top 10 most wanted. Let’s go after some actual criminals, you know, the guys who murder and rape people. Just a thought.
It seems like Rush wants to live in Nazi Germany.
On the spying thing, I just hope someone in the Obama administration has the balls to go after the Bush people responsible for this (and, yes, that includes Bush himself). They’ve already set it up by not allowing previous administrations from claiming EP.
Regarding the NSA story, there’s no way that the Bush administration, who was so dedicated to civil liberties, individual privacy, and compliance with the spirit and letter of the Constitution, would trample the the right of America’s foremost bulwark against tyranny to be free from government surveillance and intimidation?
I am such a lyin’ sack o’ shit.
I have been encouraged by President Obama’s actions in reversing some of the cancerous policies of the Bush Admin. this early. However, that is only half of the job. if his Admin. fails to investigate and prosecute criminality there will be no way to prevent this from reoccurring on an even wider scale in the future. Our liberty should never be dependant on the benevolence of our leaders.
This is something inately disturbing about torturing 3rd rate chocolate like that. Great, now I am hungry….
Also regarding the reference to the FBI in the NSA story…
Why is it that, when the government violates the very rights it was established to protect, thereby profoundly betraying the trust and threatening the fundamental security of the people for whom they are accountable, they are allowed to get away with a mere apology?
To me, that’s treason.
That should have been “the people to whom they are accountable.”
Of course the NSA has access to all of these communications; it has access to all of the major backbone pipes that the big telecoms run. How else could the NSA spy on foreign official making communications to and from American soil?
The sort of unthinking hysteria about that aspect of this “shocking report” about the NSA is the reason why I question the credentials of those who insist that they were spying on journalists. Kinda hard to take you seriously when you already have half of the story wrong.
And therein lies the problem.
The government can say, “Hey, look. We never got a warrant to eavesdrop on journalists, so we must not have done any listening.” Wink, wink.
If George W. Bush had a (D) after his name, Limbaugh would be calling him the greatest scoundrel of all time. He ran up the deficit, expanded gov’t power, and pretty much did all the things that the conservative talking heads lambasted Democrats for over history.
And like wise, if Clinton had an (R) after his name, Limbaugh would put him on the highest pedestol for reforming welfare, balancing the budget, and made every excuse for Monica Lewinski just like he makes every excuse for W.
I say Obama holds a big press conference and then announces he’s firing Mary Beth! She should not be invited to this press conference of course.
She should then be informed that all of that bad press is going to hurt her career, so she should change venues – as in, get the f!$k out of my country!
therein lies the problem…our liberty is at the convenience of our leaders and the state.
I was turned on to Albert Nock by one of my Libertarian buddies a while back…it’s been challenging my political notions and making me rethink wanting to defend Bush on just about anything he’s done…These last four years seem to have been proving Nock correct on the strength of the state and its record of criminality…
I’m so glad Limbaugh is spelling out what exactly he means when he says he hopes Obama fails. Obama failure = rejection of American principles (at least in this regard).
Did anyone zoom in on that picture of the inauguration? It looks like Justice Thomas is asleep and Justice Scalia isn’t paying attention, LOL.
So you’re saying the inauguration was just another day at the office for Thomas and Scalia.
I was just thinking, “surely, Justice Thomas wouldn’t be sleeping at a time like this!” And is it just me, or does Justice Bader-Ginsberg look like a bug?
It’s a shame there’s an error in that region of the photo, but it does make for some amusement. Who can you identify among the double foreheads?
George Bush looks like he just burped.
Gore’s thinking, “I shoulda kept the beard.”
“given their penchant for sucking up to assorted thugs and madmen, maybe he should?”
You mean thugs like Dick Cheney and John Yoo, and madmen like nutty old John Bolton?
They were terrorist bunnies. They deserved it.
I always eat the ears first, so they can’t hear themselves screaming.
I note that everyone except Obama is bundled up against the cold.
I assume he is being kept warm by his own hot air?
It’s hilarious how much Dick Cheney looks like an evil Bond villain in that picture.
