Glad to hear this. The WORLD needs to know all about Mississippi’s so-called ‘justice system’.

All my best to Corey and his family.

Thank you Radley for keeping everyone informed. You are the link to many atrocities such as this. Most people would shake their head and walk away.

Not you. And certainly not me.

Is the video available by subscribing to Reason.tv’s iTunes feed (or otherwise downloadable?)

A quick update on where Cory’s case is now: We (his defense counsel) filed our brief in the Mississippi Court of Appeals this past October, and have been waiting for the State’s brief in opposition. That brief is currently due on January 27, although the State might get a brief extension; we expect it to be filed in any event by mid-February. Our side then will write and file a reply brief.

I spoke to Cory today, and he remains (as ever) in good spirits.

Good to hear that Ben! I just got back from Mississippi visiting deathrow. (Hayne cases) An experience EVERYONE should have if only one time.

It is my contention that people who believe in the death penalty have a muderos heart. Therefore, what is it they think sets THEM APART from the condemed?

Simply because they are ‘murdering’ vicariously through the STATE does not separate them by any stretch of the imagination from the people they want to ‘see dead’.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind…Mahatma Gandhi

I am truly grateful Cory Maye is no longer on deathrow and have him in my prayers daily that he will WIN and overcome this horrible period in his life.

He didn’t do a damned thing that anyone else wouldn’t have done to protect themselves. What ever happened to people using a little common sense? There but for the grace of God, go I.

Speaking of the devil (Hayne), Radley…what’s the latest?

That should have read ‘murderous heart’. I am typing-challenged, sorry.

    “The latest” is coming.

    I hope next week.

Throughout our correspondence, Cory has always remained in the best of spirits. There have been some scary happenings for my own family recently, and Cory always has words of wisdom, good advice, or beautiful, kind words of encouragement. The man has such a good heart.

He passed his GRE with flying colors, by the way, and was looking into a good job, when last he wrote. He’d be able to earn some good money (as prison wages go). I imagine, as a father, one of the hardest things about being imprisoned is the inability to care for your children. A good job would help immensely.

What a powerful video. Thank you, Radley, for keeping the public aware of such issues. As a native to Alabama, I understand how quickly racism can affect justice. I just hope and pray that Cory is released and returned to his loved ones.

We received word yesterday that the State (Mississippi) had moved for another extension of time for its brief. The current due date is February 6; I’ll send Radley a copy when we receive it.
