fwb – if I was religious I would say a-freaking-men. This is so beyond the creepiness factor its unbelievable. Whether your GOP, DEM, LIB or anyone who has a pulse, this is just awful.

And if you so want to spend your free time helping others, more power to you, but don’t for a minute think that you should try and guilt others into some form of servitude out of some cult with the ObamaMessiah. I spent 5 years in the military and most of the sheep, I mean people, in this country aren’t worthy of my assistance anymore. Any freedom loving person in this country should feel abject horror at this crap, whether it’s a feel good idea or not.

Good lord, do people actually think for themsleves anymore?

Anyone else find it hilarious that half of the “pledges” were all part of being a decent human being?

“I pledge to learn my neighbors’ names”
“I pledge to be a good mother/father”
“I pledge to look out for my little sisters”

I guess Obama is powerful. He got a number of B-list celebrities to willfully admit that they’re the self-obsessed douchebags we think they are.

People think that libertarians are paranoid and too easily creeped out by this sort of thing. I would almost agree, except that I just sat in my mandatory communitarian propaganda class at my college and I am utterly horrified at everyone who speaks up in the class.

There is not one shred of disagreement. A chorus of voices of aparant liberals scorned my questions about individual conscience. I asked if being obligated to governmentsociety stop at any point, and your conscience kicks in. And when is it okay (say, not paying taxes is not okay, but not killing the Jews is.) It worse than I could have guessed. If you used a crosswalk once, you’re obligated to societygovernment. If you want to change the laws, you must run for office or vote or discuss. But never ever break the laws.

I got polite versions of “love it or leave it” I got “have faith” in government. I got vote and discuss but never, ever break the laws. I thought leftists would at least be for dodging the draft, but no, that’s a love it or leave situation. The spout democracy on one hand, and obeying any laws on on the other.

This crap isn’t the cozy social safety net — misguided but good intentions — this is people who don’t like individualism, but go about live reaping the comforts of our semi-free society. College is as devoid of ideological diversity as I always heard. Jesus H. Christ.

I am much more scared about Obama than I was yesterday. If this if the type of person that elected him.

Brilliant. The same car is still out burning all that fuel, only now it’s driven by someone who can’t afford to buy a new hybrid. Assuming for the moment that the way to save the world IS to burn less fuel, all you’ve actually accomplished is to move the guilt (blame? shame?) to a poorer* soul’s head. And given him a higher annual fuel cost in the long run. Congratulations!

*I’m talking poorer by probability only, because there is a small minority of Americans who actually buy cars below their means.
