Had I realized today was repeal day, I’d have saved my bottle of Stone Double Bastard for tonight… Alas, I had it last night.

So it’s some New Belgium Brew Co’s 1554 for me tonight. Best beer they make, IMHO (way better than Fat Tire).

In celebration of this holy day, I wished everyone I saw a happy and joyous repeal day. Most people looked at me confused, and I took the opportunity to discuss prohibition and that perhaps this day is best used as a reminder that prohibition of substances is always a failure. I was surprised at the positive response I got from people, including the sheriff’s deputies I spoke to.
I’m going to celebrate it again next year, maybe with a hat (or a lampshade)

Since when does the WCTU use email? I get letters (like the one below) from my sister all the time! She just got her 20 year WCTU lace hanky.

We continue family worship in our weak way, and you may be sure we do not forget you in our meetings, I have heard most earnest prayers offered up on your behalf, even the dear children inquire earnestly after their kind Uncle and send their love to you when they are released from the demon iPod. Our family are usually well except Sister Ann and her monetary issues with demon Chuck Norris Ab Machine. She has been troubled with a severe pain in her side, for some time, Doctor Door bled her and although she is not able to sit up we are in hopes she will be better soon, Mother has a bad cough but not near as bad as last winter’s case of wobblyhead. Brother Eben is a little better, although I think he is not long for this world, he has been with the demon HDTV far too much.”
